PAL Charts - Week 46, 2015

I think they sold more on 360 because it was the most sold console

Bethesda games were also technical disasters on PS3 for the most part. I think the Fallout games were considered OK but Skyrim in particular was awful on PS3, a heavily patched PS3 version was only about as good as retail unpatched 360 Skyrim.

Wow, I didn't expect the the PS4 version to sell more considering MS's marketing deal with Bethesda and that Bethesda's games sold more on the 360 last gen.

I have seen a few people say this. In the UK it would be a big surprise if any major multi plat title sells more on the Xbox One, the PS4 has a sizeable lead.

MS marketing deals have shown very little success this gen, the Witcher 3 and Evolve spring to mind. I could see MS having better success if their marketing deals were supported with extra content, like Sony did with Destiny.

Last gen can not really be used as an indication this gen of sales on Xbox One, due to the amount of 360 owners that have bought a PS4.

What? Skyrim at least after the patches was pretty decent. Both fallout games were noticeably worse (also after all the patches. I played all those games a year or more past when they were new).

Well, people didn't know Skyrim wasn't as good as the 360 version before release and it still sold less on release week

Why do NPD and Media Create get their own archive subforums, and not PAL? Makes searching for older charts a real hassle...

Well originally NPD threads had lots of data available back in the early Neogaf days and Media Create charts have always had lots of data.

PAL charts however only really having rankings and sales from Bruno being excellent at extrapolation, I'd guess this is the original reason but we'd need a mod who's been here for a while to confirm that.

All right, time to play your game for Tomb Raider (so, we have a more concrete number)

51,300!
With <60000 we finally ended at 51,300. That's look quite low now. Although the difference is less than 10000 between actual and estimated but suddenly makes the numbers look terrible. So Xbox One sold 44000?

It's a guess, not a number.

I may be wrong, but isn't Fallout 4 the bigger XB1 games after Call of Duty Advanced Warfare and Call of Duty Black Ops III?

In other worlds, isn't after COD the bigger XB1 game in it's first week?

I don't remember other games above 200k first week on XB1...

Fallout 4 XB1 > Halo really shows the damage MCC did to the brand.
I don't believe it is about MCC.

In my view the Xbone bad sales in this generation hurts more Halo 5 than MCC issues.
Xbone is not a popular console anymore and a lot of Halo fans moved to others platforms.

While I don't think it'll remain true for very long, the Xbone is ahead of the 360 if you align the launches, so that can't be the case. I think there's a number of factors involved, including Microsoft scaring off a sizeable portion of their fanbase, the Halo series being in decline, 343's piss poor handling of the franchise and Bungie luring Halo fans away with Destiny.

‘Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness’ (PS2 and PC) from Eidos is the new All Formats No1 this week.

It becomes the 5th highest selling PS2 title over one week and has higher opening sales than any other previous Tomb Raider title.

Interesting reading for those who wondered whatever happened to that The Guardian blog that used to publish every week the UK video game charts. It was a very valuable source because it included the platform splits for every game.

https://theoverspill.wordpress.com/...-should-sit-together-to-create-amazing-stuff/

We now know the reason why they are no longer published :D

Can we help him to make the chart with the new formatting..
somebody from Neogaf can do it for free. :D

Talked with some of my friends yesterday who are mostly PC gamers but also have consoles or have had them in the past. I mentioned how well Fallout 4 has been selling and how poorly the new Tomb Raider has been doing.

These were their reactions:
"New Tomb Raider??? Sequel to the reboot?"
"It's already out? So soon?"
"PC and PS next year? So I'll wait."
"Oh, it's also on 360, so I don't have to wait"

Yeah, they had no idea a new Tomb Raider game was just released. There is some hope it will do well next year on PC and PS4.

Man, he needs to re-write that. too many Edit: and what not's made it really hard to read :)

So if BKK's calculations are correct, Tomb Raider sold 44k on Xbox one... roughly 5k more than The Order on PS4. That's got to hurt.

This thread sort of blew up yesterday, (comparatively to how it normally is), so I might have missed it. But did we get any hints/confirmations on sale numbers by Kyonashi?

Last gen X360 was best selling console in the UK. This time, PS4 is leading the charge, same as in every other country in the world [barring possibly Brazil where PS4 is forced to have insane price].

well done fallout. The split between ps4 and xbox is not by much is it?

01 (NE) FALLOUT 4 (BETHESDA SOFTWORKS) - 482,000 / NEW

PlayStation 4 (53%) - 255,460
Xbox One (41%) - 197,620
PC (6%) - 28,920

Its quite a sizeable split, not as much as some recent releases though.

We can also narrow the Steam UK sales for the launch week:
1.7M ww owners as of November 15
9.52% are UK owners
So in its launch week PC Fallout 4 sold 161K units in UK, 9.47% of total first week sales.

Probably one of the more favourable splits for Xbox recently. Still telling for regional preference the majority still swung to PS4 though.

I wonder, based on min/max/median of splits this year, what projected sales for TR on PS4 and PS3 would be (based on other cross gen splits) assuming no deal and same day launch?

Would give an idea of potential lost sales at launch and what an overall total might have been. Guess PC could be factored in for retail too. Would also give better idea of damage from Fallout 4 vs lost sales too.

This pretty much, I'm a big halo Bungie fan but no way I'm touching that 343 products, they ruined halo they shoud do their own ip and leave halo alone.

Well there's the Definitive Edition of TR13 that was about 70% in PS4's favour. You could also look at other long standing franchises with an association with Playstation, like Resident Evil Revelations 2 and Final Fantasy Type 0.

Really it's impossible to tell, but it'd probably been on the higher end of the scale in sales disparity.

Xbox One is not the leader but has good sales and more than enough installed base for Halo 5 sell in line with the others.

The problem is the game having less appeal, the console is fine.
