My name is, and I *love* Miiverse.

Quick preface: I bought the Wii U in January, and according to the Activity Log app, I played it for 7 hours during that month, then less than 30 minutes in Feb, March, and April. Come the month of May, and I bought Monster Hunter, Mario World, and Super Metroid. My logged hours went from 30 minutes to 130+ hours in less than 20 days!

So it goes without saying that this was my first opportunity to stress test some of the Wii U's online and social networking features. And one of those features happen to be Miiverse. Thanks to the constant updates and improvements, not to mention the recent OS update, I've had a taste of Nintendo's vision for this service and liked what I tasted. It's so quick and easy to jump from the game to Miiverse, compose a post (maybe attach a picture) and jump back into the game. And every few minutes check for feedback.

The population is quite healthy, at least for the games I mentioned above. So healthy that if I had a very specific question, the time it takes to get feedback is not far behind googling answers. The convenience certainly makes it even more worth it. Also, asking questions isn't my only reason to turn to Miiverse, sometimes I just feel like sharing cool moments (like I did when playing Super Metroid for the first time). And speaking of which, let's not forget how entertaining it can be to stumble on players having "y cant metroid crawl" moments, and then there's the abundance of hurt feelings overflowing from certain communities such as EA's.

Finally, I'll add that I'm very impressed with quickly it evolved. I think they've covered all the basic features right now, and gone a step above with PC and mobile integration. And if the roadmap is anything to go by, there are plans for some nice additions in the near future. All in all, I have to say that feeling connected in real time to like-minded players, even for offline games, is a powerful feature. Especially when it works as well as it does here.

(You guys have to realize that I'm the farthest thing from being a Nintendo enthusiast. So when I start typing like marc^o^ in a rosy and optimistic tone, you know it's serious)

Miiverse is one of the WiiU's most surprising and consistently delightful features. Can't wait for it to come to the 3DS by the end of the year!

I knew I recognized a Jinfash on Miiverse somewhere. I saw you in the Super Metroid community.

Anyway, I thought Miiverse was a nice novelty when I first bought Wii U, but my activity increased exponentially with my purchase of Super Metroid. I owned the original as a child, but I never got into it until now. It's an amazing game, and it retroactively improved my feelings about the Metroid series in general. It's awesome posting pictures of where you're at in the game, and I actually enjoy helping people who are lost.

It's so easy to just tap the Home Button and check out the community. It was so great playing the game and checking Miiverse regularly on the GamePad while watching Friends on television. It's very convenient to be able to change the channel or volume using the remote functions.

I really enjoy Miiverse and look forward to additional updates.

Are you my long lost twin?

If the Wii U ends up being a colossal failure, I really hope Nintendo won't ditch Miiverse as a knee-jerk reaction. It's one of the system's few bright spots.

People underestimate Miiverse. As it evolves and improves, it will be a force in online gaming communities.

I love Miiverse very much, lol. :)

One of the brightspots of the WiiU definitely, I find it enjoyable for just the art people put up alone. Its a shame because they've done quite well with this, yet fucked up on some of the most basic aspects of the console.

Yeah. At first I wasn't exactly sure if I'd need it or actually remember it, but after a few posts made for the sake of testing out the service, I found myself hitting the home button to post or check for replies on a regular basis. The experience, imo, have crossed the usability threshold into the convenience level. Now sharing stuff on Miiverse feels as natural as posting a tweet.

Yeah the Miiverse is actually genius. I love how it is integrated into NSMBU, with notes scattered around the map, and other people venting their frustrations if you die. Not since Dark Souls has there been a more fluid "online single player" game. It is also really active and people reply to your questions and comments quite quickly.

I reaaaally want it to come to the 3DS already. Swapnote is great but i'd prefer to just put something "up there" and have people see it

+ mini communities + etc. It seems like a great service and I dont have a WiiU yet

goddamn end of the year

ya i like it. i wanna see how they go about adding communities to it. it has a lot of potential.

So is Miiverse like a mini-forum thing for each game?

yea and there's general forums and stuff for topics like legend of zelda and year of luigi. those are pretty cool, lots of foreigners to talk to.

Not quite. You still can't make new posts from the web.
I was referring to posting from the pad, mid game. But your point still stands. I know that it's possible to +yeah and comment, but apparently not compose new posts. Hopefully it gets added soon, because even though their non-Wii U portals just launched, they're quite functional and easy to use (albeit very basic, obviously).

I am a big Nintendo enthusiast, but I didn't give a shit about Miiverse before launch, and didn't pay attention for a long while afterwards. But it was when Runner 2 came out that I realized how genius the service is; posting high score screenshots, score challenges, bragging and lighthearted trash talking. It really added to an already great game, and I ended up making some friends on there too

Gonna be amazing for stuff like Mario Kart

Miiverse is probably the coolest thing about the WiiU. (To me)
I'm in (more or less) full agreement. And while Nintendo has fumbled on delivering with the Wii U in various aspects, it's so refreshing to see their focus on Miiverse is still undeterred. They're giving it a lot of attention.

I didn't think it was anything special. The first few days of owning a Wii U it felt nice and fun to look at pictures, like some stuff, Post something up. But after that I got bored and just never bothered looking through it again. It's basically like PS home to me fun for a bit then never bother with it ever again.

Miiverse will be great on 3DS, but I'm bummed it wasn't around when Kid Icarus Uprising came out. It would've been great for Phosphora porn cool fan art.

I totally agree. I thought MiiVerse would be dumb and gimmicky, but then I tried it. Its really great.

I love Miiverse. It's a well moderated community, and people are genuinely friendly and helpful. So it's pretty much nothing like the rest of the internet.

The Monster Hunter community has been a great way for new players who don't frequent forums to figure out the game's more opaque mechanics.

The entire platform is strongly tied to the type of game you're playing. If it's something unengaging where people struggle to find something to discuss, it's going to be boring. But with games such as Super Metroid (especially for newcomers like myself) and Monster Hunter, there's always something to ask or look up, soon followed by offering help to those who're going through the same pinch you found yourself in a couple of hours ago.

It's the farthest thing from the bloated mess that was HOME. And I say this as someone who really believed Phil Harrison back when it was revealed and gave it an honest try.

The Super Metroid Community really is awesome. I have to admit, I felt compelled to post the end screen after beating the game. I'm usually not like that at all, but I felt the community played a large part in me completing the game, with many members of Miiverse answering many of my questions, which made me feel as if I needed to share my accomplishment with them.

It made me realize that Miiverse is going to be amazing for Nintendo's heavy-hitter games. Hopefully they will take the region/user-created Miiverse community system they are building for Wii Fit U and use them for Mario Kart and Smash Bros WiiU.

Miiverse just makes the WiiU feel ALIVE. Like you're not just playing a game, but you're playing in... like, an arcade or something. Just knowing all these other people are around, in this community, playing and talking about games.

Will the 3DS version actually relate to 3DS games, or just another way to access your Wii U related content via the 3DS?

it'll relate to 3DS games. It's the 3DS miiverse. I guess there's a question on wether you'll be able to access the WiiU miiverse and if they're borth gonna be intertwined

also I wonder if they're just gonna drop Swapnote, or just give it an update with "post on Miiverse" or something. I think that'd be kinda pointless and just another step.

You can bet your ass Nintendo will disable that for Smash, those evil fuckers D:

That would call for a protest.

I know exactly what you mean. I tried playing my 360 the other day and everything just felt so...dead. You get pop-ups when your friends are online and you can send them messages and stuff, but it just ain't the same.

I don't see why it couldn't be both. I mean Miiverse has a community for Luigi's Mansion 2 right now, right? (I don't have a Wii U so I don't know for sure) It would be a bit weird to only be able to get on a separate miiverse per platform, yet be able to access either from your phone & computer.
