The alarmist attitude towards alcohol displayed here is straight out of Prohibition.

It really is laughable all this concern that a kid had some root beer.

Kid was in exactly zero danger of anything.

The problem is the denial. Imagine if the parents didn't know it was alcoholic and the kid downed several cups of that and they wonder why their kid is acting erratic. Not such a light matter then. If they denied it with them, whose to say they won't with the next set of customers?
