Would not be the first time Nintendo has based a character on one of their musicians.

K.K. Slider (Totakeke in japanese) is said to be based on Kazumi Totaka.

Tingle has way too much testosterone to be Gackt. Gackt is much more likely to have been the model for Princess Zelda or maybe Link from the CD-i games.

Actually, he is, his appearance is based on koji kondo and his personality is based on kondo's and some other guys at nintendo
