Nintendo.com isn't indicative of retail/digital, see Pokemon Super Mytsery Dungeon

Just browsing around, and I spotted something interesting.

Here is Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon's page, see the pic where a box would be? It's got that orange square usually reserved for digital-only games, so it's a digital release right?

Wrong.

This brings us back to Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water.

Now, yes, it doesn't mean Fatal Frame is a retail game, but right now folks are mostly taking its page as meaning it's definite. I say Pokemon proves it can be an "error", likely they just didn't add the box (or one doesn't even exist yet).

Though I think it raises the odds of a retail release, but we'll have to wait and see.

I feel like this would be better served simply posted in the Fatal Frame thread you linked. Having said that, though, yes, it is a good note. I'm hoping Frame gets a physical release.

I didn't know an orange box signified anything.

People were freaking out due to FF having that instead of a box as other retail games do on the site:

I didn't link it. :p But I just edited it in anyway. ;)

At least this gives it some hope that Fatal Frame might get a physical release. But Nintendo really needs to clear things up soon before people start freaking out even more than they already are.

That shouldn't mean digital release in the first place (as all games sans a couple get eShop releases), but rather Internet functionality of some kind. Even if it is just Miiverse posts showing up. It's a Nintendo Network icon, not an eShop one.

Does Fatal Frame 5 have any Internet stuff in it? DLC?

OP is referring to the box art that appears on Nintendo.com, not the NN logo. You should actually click on the links.

I thought that logo just signified that the game had some sort of online features, like the blue "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection" logo used to.

Maybe Fatal Frame doesn't have a western boxart yet? Can't really see Nintendo passing up the chance of having a relatively big Wii U game hitting the shelves.

Glad there's still hope. Will be there day one for a physical version of FF, but digital only I'll be there day... whenever it's 60% off.

I wouldn't be surprised if Fatal Frame ends up a digital only release here in NA, but I sure hope it gets a physical release, even if it's limited.

Maybe they should be clear about it instead of

you know

not

Yeah why we aren't hearing anything about Devils Third or Fatal Frame is just strange. NOA needs to just say it, fans are freaking out and in Devils Thirds case it would be lame if the game doesn't get released like has been rumored, especially after they showed the game off on treehouse and had it in their releases schedule for so long.
