Now the PS4 is showing signs of being the PS2 again and with only one platform that needs to be concentrated on, the JP devs are flocking back because there's only so many Mobages that can fit in their mobile market once you get past 400 or so.

Ace Combat Assault Horizon on 3DS was just a remake of Ace Combat 2. And that game was a classic.

Hope to see AC7 some day. Its been too long.

Oh my goodness, let this be true. ACI is just too grindy for me, I need a proper Ace Combat game. It's been a while since the last one. Hopefully they ditch the style they keep the gameplay from ACI and avoid Assault Horizon's approach.

Air Combat and Ace Combat 2 don,t get a lot of love compared to their sequels, but they're fun games! I love the cheeseball rock soundtracks.

It was air combat first?

I think the first one was called Air Combat, then it became Ace Combat afterwards, but I don't know if Air Combat was a regional naming or not (PAL versions at least).

I think AC1,2,3 were on PS1.
AC 4, 5, Zero on PS2.
AC6 on xbox 360.

I think there have been some other portable ones too.

It was air combat first?

There were two arcade titles -

Air Combat in 1993 .That was the very first game in the franchise and different from Air Combat aka Ace Combat on PS1,

Air Combat 22 in 1995. Totally different from Ace Combat 2 on PS1. The second arcade game was called AC '22 because it ran on Namco's System Super 22 hardware, same hardware that ran Time Crisis, Alpine Racing, Prop Cycle, Tokyo Wars and others.

Also doing corkscrew within a tunnel avoiding fire and walls, so much fun.

Would love a proper 60fps and PsVR implementation.

I did the same thing for AC6. Played it so much..almost unlocked everything and still felt like playing the missions over and over again. I sold that 360 after my roommate's little nephew overwrote my save though... lol

Most of the RL stuff they use instantly feel boring. Definitely rather get Strangereal or anything else that's not RL.

Ace Combat Infinity was updated in Japan recently, and it looks like Bandai Namco may have slipped in something it didnt necessarily want players to see.

According to dataminers posting on a Japanese message board devoted to Ace Infinity, the update contains text referencing the announce of Ace Combat 7 at PlayStation Experience. Players will even be unable to unlock Ace Combat 7 emblems in-game to celebrate the announce.

According to DualShockers translation, the update is said to specifically reference a trailer.

The information cannot be verified, so it may all be total nonsense. Still, keep your ears and eyes open this week; were expecting plenty of reveals and announces between PlayStation Experience and The Game Awards 2015.

Hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngghhhhhhhhh.

I was one of the staunchest believers in Ace Combat Assault Horizon. I got burned pretty bad, that game did not turn out as I was expecting. Time has softened the blow and I now consider Assault Horizon to be pretty nice.

Infinity did nothing for me, it was a cheap cash-in with an insane grind and poor netcode (read: 10m in lobby, 3m for a sortie, repeat).

I want this new game to be a real Ace Combat.

I'm still waiting on Ace Combat 3 to be properly localized to western audiences... They had a indie project on it, but the faster I get it, the happier I would be. On other news, OH MY GAWD, let this be as good as 5 and Zero.
