Update: All of these new 3DS (&New 3DS XL) exclusive features are also applicable to New 2DS XL as well.

The new 3DS has been released for quite a while, so I figure its about time we look back at how much it has bring to the table, by consolidating the games that has been enhanced by the New 3DS, as well as the games that are exclusive to the N3DS. Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
You should add:

The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Warriors
-Actually presentable game with a decent amount of enemies on screen

AFAIK, Steamworld Heist has 3D on both systems but is 30FPS on OG 3DS and 60FPS on New 3DS.

SmileBASIC has a large performance boost on New 3DS.

I've heard the new Lego Avengers game has performance improvements on New 3DS, also.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy (Japanese version only)

This is true of the original version, but the Assault Horizon Legacy+ rereleases has support for the C-stick in the west.

There's five great New 3DS exclusives, Xenoblade, Xenoblade, Xenoblade, Xenoblade, and Xenoblade.

Its spits hot fire too i bet.

But to go on discussion n3ds being hacked sorta helps some other games run better due to forcing the game to take advantage the new stuff.

Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson also supports the Circle Pad Pro.

I think the Circle Pad Pro functionality was added in the Picross e series starting with Picross e4.

Nice thread OP, don't think I've seen a better source of compiled info for it than that. New 3DS about as well supported as most people were expecting I think, a marginally better version of a DSi type of upgrade but nothing folks needed to sell their old 3DS systems for. Like my N3DS just because the 3D actually works for me now and I also am not constantly accidentally toggling the volume slider but thats kind of it.

Mario & Luigi Paper Jam also has ZR/ZL and analog nub support (camera control in papercraft battles; ZL will instaheal the party and ZR insta restores BP, if you have the items)

Just to point out, under "C-Stick/ZL ZR Buttons Compatible Games" you have:

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy (Japanese version only)

Assault Horizon Legacy + actually included this as well :)

Edit: Ooops, beaten above.

From what I've seen, they should've just made Hyrule Warriors a n3ds exclusive. Guess that's a lot of money to leave on the table but I feel bad for people buying that for their original 3ds without knowing how bad it is.

Also worth considering games which aren't officially enhanced by the N3DS, but you can grant access to the increased system resources via homebrew/hacks.

I know you can get MGS3 to run at pretty much locked 20fps this way, rather than the frame rate regularly dipping without this enhancement.

Using these hacks introduces bugs into some games, since they weren't made with this hardware in mind.

I don't regret getting the n3DS XL cuz I've been wanting to upgrade to an XL for a while, but it's really a shame that they didn't wind up taking advantage of the new hardware in any meaningful ways.

ElTorro

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
Not really many reasons for me personally to upgrade my 3DS XL. If Xenoblade wasn't a remake of a game that I could play elsewhere, the situation might be different. The one thing that keeps me thinking about the N3DS are the generally fast loading times of apps, including the store. Still feels like a potential waste of money, though, as I don't use my 3DS that often.

Pokemon Z better end up on this list. The framerate in X/Y/OR/AS is atrocious. Ideally, Z would have 3D for everything instead of just battles, as well as a better framerate.

Thanks for the contributions. I have updated them

Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson also supports the Circle Pad Pro.

I think the Circle Pad Pro functionality was added in the Picross e series starting with Picross e4.

Thanks

I've searched around on Nintendo and Jupiter's sites (and the eshop but they didn't mention anything about CPP though. If there's a reliable link about them supporting CPP I'll add them to the list

Still kind of upset that My Majoras Mask New 3DS doesn't actually enhance Majoras Mask at all. Would've loved to see better/fewer load times, higher frame rate, better textures. Hell. Anything.

Along with other people, I have a hacked n3DS and because of homebrew I'm able to run any game with the power of the n3DS. And it's frickin' GLORIOUS.

As someone thinking about upgrading to an XL, this is a pretty useful thread. Doesn't look like I'll miss out on anything grabbing a original XL for cheap rather than a n3DS.

People should homebrew on their n3ds' if only for the NTR cpu plugin IMO. Run all games at the new clockspeeds and increased cache. Increases performance on a lot of games.

Rayman 2 and Luigi's Mansion apparently run at a constant 60 fps on New 3DS if you set the clock to 800 MHz using homebrew.

I have a Circle Pad Pro and will buy an Amiibo reader so most of the bonus features are pointless for me.

Xenoblade > All DSi exclusives

There were a lot of neat DSi games.

Also Xenoblade is available on Wii and is downloadable on Wii U. It's also better on that platform in a numb for ways.

I would gladly take new DSiware level software over a single port.

Quadcore 800mhz is a pretty good cpu, its a shame that old games cant take advantage of it without homebrew.

EDIT: Well they could if the developers of the games actually patched their games to take advantage of it...

I think you can watch 3D YouTube videos on n3DS.

Also enhanced homebrew emulator like snes and virtual boy and GBA.

The recent Unity release will likely grow the number of games exclusive to the system at least.

I'm fairly disappointed in Nintendo's support of the system though. I was hoping we would at least get a few more Wii ports (what I wouldn't do for an ExciteTruck port with a new online suite and a few new tracks) but Nintendo seems to have all but forgotten the original messaging they purported.

If you delve into hacking your n3ds, you can force games to take advantage of the faster cpu. Majora's Mask for example has frame drops that are gone when you do this

Will this thread put a can on all those people who seem to think it's good for Xenoblade and nothing else? Probably not.

Love my N3DSXL. :)

I really like using my N3DS because of its ergonomics but man as far as exclusives go this thing is so disappointing.

Yeah the Frankenstick works. I've played the entire game with that thing. The default camera can be a bit problematic at times.
