May was a very bad month for Microsoft. Still, it's the only other platform according to the table that's shown year-on-year growth. People still want their consoles.

...Bad month for Valkyria.

Wonder how digital or Amazon sales were.

Also shame upon people who chose Birthright over Conquest.

VideoMan

30% Failure Rate
Mirror's Edge bomba. Not even in the top 40.

Edit: oops. For some reason I was thinking this came out the same week as Doom. I don't know why.

What an awful month for XB1. May had some big releases (Doom, Overwatch) and yet Xbox software sales were the worst this month.

If I'm reading this right, Nintendo only has a 6.3% software share? That seems really unhealthy. Hopefully NX can bring some lapsed Nintendo gamers back to the fold.

I'm surprised physical PC software isn't lower than it is.

Physical is still usually cheaper then Steam outside of sales, I imagine that plays a part in it. It's the only reason why I still buy physical from time to time.

Ouch

WiiU feels like the years of GameCube winding down but this is a console that never got started. I'd love to know hardware numbers for this system in the UK. Absolute shocking I'm sure with those pathetic software numbers.

Well deserved top spot for Uncharted 4 and fantastic to see Ratchet and Clank still in the top 5!

Shame they've no hardware numbers though, would be interesting to see how the XO is doing compared to the PS4, and the 3DS compared to last year.

Worth noting that a lot of supermarkets finally started to either stop selling or severely limiting xbox 360 and ps3 games the last two or so months. Expect next-gen sales to increase significantly this year as last-gen choices are dwindling.

Isn't PS4 ahead by 1 million in UK? Or is it higher than that? Mainland EU is a slaughter house!! Glad Ratchet is doing well too, Insomniac deserved a hit!

I was looking for Vita too!

but..

7,6,6,5,3 (1000's). Not a good trend through to May..

If that continues will be <1000/month

I was going to do a comparison of May 2015 vs. May 2016 because I was pretty sure in both years the only retail release was a Neptunia spinoff (U in 2015 and Zombies in 2016), but upon research it turns out Disney Infinity 2.0 and Looney Tunes Galactic Sports released in 2015.

Regardless, point is there's just nothing releasing that can sell, so all the software sales are really old games. For example, FIFA 15 is in the top 10 for this week (which released in 2014, lol). Minecraft has been around forever at the top.

It's probably around 85-90% in Germany.

In France similar too. Spain is Sony only. Nintendo has a bigger share than Microsoft in those markets and that explaines why the gap between xbone and ps4 widens. I can't imagine what will happen to Scorpio if it launches above 500 EUR. Even at 399 it wont sell.

Well for Xbox, units sold don't matter anymore. Its about the MAUs, engagement and time spent on XBL. Okay...but PS4 is a beast in hardware AND software.

As an Xbox 'fan' I'm breaking ranks at Christmas to buy a PS4 so I can play the exclusives. Never gone multi platform before but it's time - too many big hitters to ignore!

(I have limited money so in previous generations stick with 1 console and just buy as many games as I can)

I was a Nintendo fan, then moved to be an MS fan, and since Ps4 a Sony fan.

Which basically says I play with my 13 year old son and we play what all his mates are playing and the current trend. UK went Wii then 360 now Ps4, so did we.

I will be interesting to see if the cheap version of the Xbox one S can make any difference to these numbers.

Its probably too little too late considering the Xbox One can already be had for around that price anyway....

It might have a small spike as a 4K blu ray player, but the Sony momentum is there and cant see much shaking it up.

I have never seen a WiiU in shops, it does not even get retail space, so except for the dedicated its out of sight and mind to UK kids today which is console + Iphone / Ipad.

Using my 13 year old son as an example, none of his mates or circles at School even watch E3, they just play online games like COD, Destiny, Division, GTA, Borderlands etc etc.

I think Scorpio may change this u in UK, as will Neo, there is alot of console wars on up man ship with teens. Just my 2 cents.
