HDR 4k TV sets with lowest input lag?

Croatoan

They/Them A-10 Warthog
Are there anyone good ones in the 40 inch range or is 50+ the only real option?

Prices have come down some on 4k hdr sets but choosing one knowing it could have 60ms of input lag is a little disconcerting.

Any help would be appreciated.

Samsung. Best I've seen. The KU6000 range are 20ms of lag after all post processing shit is turned off.

They regularly beat out others on the comparison sites for input lag.

Do NOT buy a Sony.

Do we still have the "Banding Issue" with modern 4k TVs?

I hated to watch Soccer/Football on my old Samsung LED TV.

You don't need to be empathetic towards me.
Samsung KS 8000 - 9000 models.

From what I understand it's in the 20ms second range.

It's not just a matter of having a low enough input lag in game mode but in game mode with HDR enabled. From my search only the Samsung KS models have that currently and they are bigger than what the OP is looking for. Maybe consider the 55"? If cost is the sticking point I bet we see some deals on it in Nov/Dec.

I have a Samsung JS7000 60" and it has 24ms of lag on game mode. The HDR in the screen is beautiful as well. It's a fantastic tv. The only downfall is when viewing at night you can see the light through really dark screen segments, not a big deal for gaming but it's noticable when watching UHD HDR movies.

For what it's worth, game mode was buried in my TVs options and I played through all of Uncharted in movie mode with 124ms of input lag and, though it was barely noticable to me (it felt a little slippery), I still beat the game on hard mode. After I found game mode and turned to on, it became super snappy.

Check the Samsung KS8000 or Panasonic TX750 as LED panel or LG B6/C6 for OLEDS.

The input lag with HDR is starting to be quite insignificant

A DF article even: I did found an interesting article if you care:

On the PS4 Pro video, DF said that they got the Panasonic TX750 wich is a reasonable TV. I might say the best for the buck for 4K, LED HDR gamming TV

I have a Sony XBR850B and the lag is around 39ms in standard mode and 25ms I game mode. The only problem is game mode is non HDR.

I personally can't tell the difference, and I love my TV.

But again, if you are buying one of these to get the most out of the PS4 Pro (and/or Scorpio) and want HDR enabled, then these numbers are meaningless if they are being measured with HDR off in game mode. Other than the Samsungs, I think all of those numbers go way up with HDR turned on.

Links don't work.

HDR increases lag, even when all post processing is disabled and most game modes don't include hdr.

It's really hard choosing a display. And 65" is just too small.

Hopefully native 4k hdr projectors will hit the market soon. Epson's new pixel shift 4k pj is hdr and kinda affordable but it's not native 4k.

I'll keep playing on my current setups (gsync monitor and 1080p projector) for the time being, even if I could easily get 4k with my Titan X pascal.

doesn't Samsung turn off all processing even FALD to achive those kind of numbers? I am pretty sure that was the case when they suddenly become good for gaming and Sony went other way because they are able to retain a lot of the tech in game mode. The Samsung KS8000 cost quite a bit more than Sony XBR850 here in Canada.

If I am not mistaken, HDR is not enabled in low-latency Game Mode, right?

Also, the Leo Bodnar testers only work with 1080p signals, so I have a feeling some of these sites are simply testing 1080p/HDR and reporting that for their 4k sets versus doing the more complicated tv + pc + crt + high ISO camera set-up with a 4k signal (I think that's the basic idea). Just something to keep in mind.

It looks like all sites need to start testing output with HDR and game mode both on, and explicitly say so.

Does anyone know anything about the models they have at costco? They don't seem to have model numbers that match up with other retailers? Can you just compare it to the closest model number it resembles? (last couple digits tend to be different)

They have an LG 65" for 1,000 right now that i'm eyeing.

The model number is similar to this one:
2016 65" LG 65UH6150 4K 120hz LED HDTV 33ms Check Amazon Great DisplayLag

Costco:
LG 65" Class (64.5" Diag.) 4K Ultra HD Smart LED LCD TV 65UH615A

Will the "A" make a difference?

If not, this seems like a sweet tv?

Comparing the spec sheets on the LG site they look identical, but obviously that doesn't guarantee anything.

I bought a Samsung KS8000 55 Inch.

Played CoD BO3 on it yesterday and just did a feel test. I did it with it normal movie mode + HDR vs the Game Mode and there was very little difference. Period. Amazing TV.

Yeah, don't buy Sony, they went from top in class in terms of input lag to very underwhelming, my current 4k TV is Samsung with 18ms input lag in game mode.

Very true. On the other hand, not knowing the truth may be better for some :)

Why is 20ms considered good for gaming on consoles when many popular pc monitors are at 1ms? Is it actually 20 times faster or are they different kinds of measurements? I don't get it.

So much bad info out there. Do Sony 4K tv's have worse input lag than their old 1080p sets? Yes the 1080p tv's were generally in the low 20's for input lag and the 4k's are in the mid 30's. That is not a giant jump. The difference is that Sony has always been much better about keeping the exact same image quality when you go to game mode as you get in the other modes. This is where Samsung and other TV's fall flat. Don't listen to the naysayers on this topic, Sony still makes the best tv's around and their 4K upscaling technology is the best in the business and not one really even disputes that. Keep in mind that for now most of the time the TV is going to be upscaling your cable picture and any 1080p consoles for you also. Input lag is not the only thing that matters. I'll take 10-15 ms more with a much better picture.

That's not a true HDR screen. It does have WCG but is way short on the NITS required. Maxes out a 300 nits on anything that isn't full screen.

You need to go KS8000 or above in the Samsung line if you don't want half baked HDR.

You're confusing response time and input lag. No monitor has 1ms I don't think.

The lowest rated TV out there, of any kind, has 17ms of lag, duder.

Yup. They are also really affordable. I picked up a 55" KU6300 for $650 the other day and I think they get even cheaper than that sometimes.

I'm really happy with it. The picture is amazing, the Plex, Netflix and Amazon apps are good enough that I've retired my Fire TV and the input lag is not noticeable at all for me.

Costco uses the warehouse product code and stores use store product code. They're most likely identical except maybe frame color.

Costco has the KS8000 as KS800D.

The KU6000 TVs people are recommending also aren't "full" HDR, either.

Ugh, 20ms is unplayable for me.

I feel for you, because you're basically out of luck when it comes to HDTVs. Input lag bugs me, but thankfully I'm not sensitive enough that 20ms ruins it for me. That would be a blower. That being said I play SFV on my gaming monitor for the best experience, but everything else I'm okay playing on my 30-35ms LG.
