Video game developer Koei Tecmo Holdings is expected to log a 42% surge in group operating profit to just under 12 billion yen ($110 million) for the year ending March 2018, topping records for the first time in two years on strong new titles developed and sold with partners.

Sales will likely rise 14% to about 42 billion yen. Koei Tecmo is releasing "Fire Emblem Warriors" for Nintendo's new Switch console this fall. It is also planning new games under its popular "Nobunaga's Ambition" and "Dynasty Warriors" franchises.

Koei Tecmo on April 3 downgraded its forecast for the just-ended fiscal year to a 4% dip in sales to 36.7 billion yen and a 27% drop in operating profit to 8.1 billion yen.

Official results are due out April 27.

This may be related to another thread I posted talking about Koei Tecmo having success with Nexon Co. for releasing mobile games under the Three Kingdoms and Dynasty Warriors franchises.

Or maybe Nioh? Who knows. We'll find out the results on April 27th.

Guess Nioh would help yeah, since I remember hearing them being disappointed about Musou Stars sales, as well as some other games.
KT keeps getting better in terms of game quality, they just need to have more games localized on time now.

Whether its Nioh or their mobile stuff, it sounds like they finding success by not just targeting the same audience they always have. More japanese devs and publishers need to figure that out.
