- "Director's Cut" in Japan, so this will feature every bit of content made for the game

Setting and Story:
Star Ocean: Till The End of Time is set in the far future, over four hundred years after the earlier games in the franchise. Earth is part of the Pangalactic Federation, a large government organization that spreads across many planets in the galaxy. Magic powers are granted to humans through the power of Symbology, which was called Heraldry in the previous games in the series. The Hero, Fayt Leingod, is on vacation with his parents and friend Sophia Esteed, when it is attacked by alien forces and he's forced to flee. He is separated from family and friends as he boards an escape pod and crashes on an underdeveloped planet. While there, he meets other offworld inhabitants, who search for him for reasons unknown, and he finds himself on an epic adventure that spans many planets and worlds.

Battle System:
Star Ocean 3 offers real-time interactive combat, similar to the .hack and Tales series. Battles occur when running into enemies on the main travel field or when certain pre-scripted events occur. In battle, the player directly controls one character, while the other two characters are controlled by AI. The player can, however, choose the tactics used by AI characters or switch which character they are directly controlling.

Party Characters:

Fayt Leingod:
A seemingly normal (aka lazy) college student from earth, he is sucked into a universe-spanning journey by what seems to be mere chance. Fayt fights in battle with a sword, and is the game's main character.

Sophia Esteed:
A childhood friend of Fayt's who accompanies him on his travels. She is considered a member of the family, and refers to Fayt's parents as "aunt" and "uncle".

Cliff Fittir:
Although appearing brutish on the outside, Cliff is soon found to be smarter than he looks. Cliff meets Fayt not long into his travels and decides to go with him. Cliff uses his bare hands and feet in close combat.

Nel Zelpher:
An agent for the kindgom of Aquios, Nel is a specialist in infiltration and spying. She is put on a mission with the rest of the party, and decides to join them.

Maria Traydor:
A mysterious blue haired girl who appears to have an interest in Fayt. She is the leader of an organization called Quark, and she wields a gun in battle, and also can use minor symbology.

Mirage Koas:
She's a long-time friend of Cliff and his partner in Quark. Quiet and mild-mannered, she is an excellent fighter, as befits the daughter of a dojo-owner. Cliff learned to fight at the same dojo club and throughout their youth had many matches.

*There are other, minor, playable characters in the game. You can choose several of them to join your party, closing off access to others.

And we all know.....
Welch Vineyard:
Welch is found working in the Craftsman Guild in the Trading Town of Peterny. She is found sleeping at her desk, but is thrilled when Fayt asks to sign up to be an inventor. She gives Fayt a run down on how to be an inventor, and then hands him the Compact Communicator, a device far more advanced than anything found on Elicoor II.

Interesting Game Facts:
- One of the major influences of the design changes from Star Ocean: The Second Story to Till the End of Time was Star Trek.
- In terms of story message, game producer Yoshiniro Yamagishi stated that the main message the game communicates is one of "trust"
- Several characters and dungeons did not make the cut for the final version of the game, but most of what developers wanted found its way into the game
- Gameplay balance was adjusted between the Japanese and American releases, as well as fixing various technical errors that occurred in the original Japanese release

Fun fact, i got a ps2 super late that gen because i was mostly pc and Nintendo and this was the first game i got... The graphics looked awful and the story was bad and the voice acting was ear splitting... Thankfully i got mgs3 soon after.

i still nearly beat the game because i was that starved for games.... Still better than Star Ocean 4

Well, it's no SO2 but maybe I'll pick it up when it goes on sale and play it for 5 minutes just for the nostalgia kick.

Also, nice OT, but just to clarify, it is releasing in Europe alongside the US on 23rd, right? At least that's what Eurogamer reported.

I played this for the first time a few years ago. All I did was make Cliff a weapon that was way too powerful early on and cancel hammer of might into aerial assault.

Can't wait to do it all over again!

Will grab this after I finish Persona 5. I have a lot of nostalgia for SO3, it was the game that introduced me to RPGs with real time combat.

One of my favorite JRPGs of the PS2 era
But with so many games to play at the moment, gonna wait for a $15 or less deal

For the heck of it, I decided to peek at the trophy list to see if a certain hellish task might be listed. Looks like tri-ace decided to have some mercy this time. You need to collect only 80% of the battle trophies to collect all the PSN trophies, as opposed to the balls-punishingly difficult 100% of them in Star Ocean 4.

Man, I still have my PS2 copy with unfinished save file on the memory card in the case.

Do I dare try this game again on PS4? It pretty much put me to sleep everytime I tried to play it.

Shit! I didn't know it was coming out tomorrow!!!!

Also the OT should've been:

Star Ocean: Til the end of time |OT| SPHERE OF MIGHT...and Cliff is dead

I wonder if I should just buy this out of principle in the hopes of getting Valkyrie Profile on PSN

Can't wait to replay this. I never finished it on PS2. Made it to the final boss, lost that fight and shortly after lost my save file.

MOTOI SAKURABA!!!!!!!

Dawn of Wisdom Classic

Ice Crystal The piano at the 17 second marks pierces my heart strings! Powerful and beautiful.

So Alone Be Sorrow First of the few Mio Sakuraba (Motoi's daughter) songs that Motoi Sakuraba created. All of them were beautiful.

And so much more. Great soundtrack! Was the first live orchestrated Motoi Sakuraba soundtrack too. We didn't get another OST like this from Sakuraba until Kid Icarus Uprising and Dark Souls.

I have fond memories of this game. I remember enjoying the story, characters, battles, dungeons, and the crafting system. Vague late game spoilers:
I even liked the twist, unlike a lot of people - maybe because it was my first Star Ocean game.

I even still have the Brady Games guide for this game! I'm looking forward to playing it again to see if I still like it as much as I did back then.

That was a big guide, I remember trying to do some of the social link things or whatever they were called, the game had TONS of systems

I never beat this but I got up to Moonbase years ago. Started a PS2 replay years ago but didn't get too far and now sold PS2. Might try again at some point.

I recall liking the trio of Fayt, Nell, and Cliff, plus I recall spending a lot of time with just the three of them. Maria was okay, everyone else felt ancillary and useless to the story.

I've come to admire how ambitious the affection point system was in SO3, but it did seem a little convoluted with how certain dialogue choices or actions would adversely affect Fayt's standing with party members who weren't even present for it. The crafting system too, I'm a little apprehensive jumping back into that one, knowing how many hours I spent crafting.

I did like how the Brady guide was one of the best ways to get your hands on official artwork. I still have the bonus disc DVD with a small interview on the game's development from the game's UK release too.

One of my favorite RPGs from my childhood along with Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy and Shadow Hearts.
Really excited to replay it
Aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiir Raaaaaaaaaaaaaid xD
