Windows Central. 5/5

Nothing that makes Forza great has been left out. This is still the most complete racing game on Xbox. It's got something for all abilities, enough content to keep you going for a long old time and it's so stunning to look at it massages your eyeballs every time you play.

Attack of the Fanboy. 4.5/5

Turn 10 turned in their biggest game in terms of tracks, cars, and features with Forza 7, and it very well may be their best one yet.

Polygon. No score yet

Turn 10 has become highly proficient in taking this basic mechanic and turning it into a full on fantasy, of conquest, of acquisition, of personalization.

Playing Forza 7, I've enjoyed many little moments of satisfaction and pleasure, and I expect to find more, as I unlock more of the game, and get stuck into split-screen and online racing modes. I'll have more impressions of the game tomorrow.

TheNextGenWeb

With over 700 cars and more than 30 tracks it represents one of the largest and most diverse collections of cars and environments in any racing game. With Forza Motorsport 7 Turn 10 Studios gets everything right, and I can't find anything I don't like about the game — even the difficulty controls have a ton of options to tailor the game to my style.

Gamesradar. Review in progress

Unlike the all-too-familiar-feeling Project CARS 2, Forza Motorsport 7 feels like a true sequel. One that fixes nagging, outstanding issues, pushes ahead with truly awesome weather effects and vast track and car counts, and delivers what looks – so far – to be the best serious racing experience of the current generation. Gran Turismo Sport might have met its match before it's even entered the ring.

Check back on Monday for our full review.

MSpoweruser. 10/10

We could go on and on about Forza Motorsport 7 but the fact is that it's the best racing game we've ever played. It draws you in and makes you heart beat faster because of the tense races. Hardcore racing fans can enjoy it by turning off all the assists and newcomers won't feel like it's an impossible task to win races. Racing games should be inviting and Forza Motorsport 7 definitely does that. This is definitely the gold standard out there and we can't wait to see what Turn 10 Studios does in the future.

Shacknews. 6/10

Objectively, Forza Motorsport 7 is an excellent game. It has the looks, the sounds, and the feel of a champion. In my opinion, it does not look as good as Forza Horizon 3 in many areas, but I can overlook that due to how it is structured and how well it performs. I don't believe it is as good a game as Forza Horizon 3, despite having much better tracks, but would not hesitate to recommend the console version to any driving game fan. Had I not experienced the aforementioned performance issues, I would be inclined to give Forza Motorsport 7 my highest recommendation for PC players. As things stand now, I cannot give it any higher than a 6/10. If a patch arrives in a timely fashion (the 8 months it took to fix Horizon 3 is unacceptable) that addresses the performance problems, I would have no issues with a 9/10.

Cheat Code Central. 4.6/5

Forza Motorsport 7 still has features that didn't make the deadline. Forzathon events, multiplayer Leagues, and the Auction House and Marketplace are currently listed as ”Coming Soon". However, what is already packed in is plenty of meat to digest, and no feature feels tacked on or a novelty. With a long and flexible solo campaign, quick multiplayer setups (including couch co-op), fun challenges, and lots ways to tweak your ride, wardrobe, and income, Turn 10 Studios continues to perfect their skill with another entry in one of the best racing series in the industry.

Arstechnica. Buy it

It's not perfect, and, on top of the problems we have with the reward structure, the perverse incentives against clean driving, and the prize crates, the load times can be lengthy. (It's also massive, clocking in at 67GB on the Xbox One.) And yes, Forza might be a little artificial at times—some bleed in from the Horizon games perhaps—and its engine might be biased toward flair and fun. But games are meant to be enjoyed, and this one is most certainly enjoyable.

Evereye.it. 8.5/10

Of all the "simcade" available at the moment, Forza Motorsport 7 is the most dynamic and malleable one, capable of enhancing the realism of driving sensations and accessibility.

Gamereactor - 7/10

+ Good graphics, great audio, balanced gameplay, solid frame-rate, fantastic options when tuning cars.
-Strange choice of cars, long loading times, not especially realistic.

GamingBolt. 9/10

Whether you're up for a couple of races or want to learn everything about Porsche, Forza Motorsport 7 will scratch that racing sim itch and then some. It's the definitive racing experience of the year and another new bar for the series to surpass

A 10/10 from Windows Central, what a surprise...

To be fair, polygon are partially funded by Microsoft and even they held off scoring it yet. Demo was great so I wouldn't be surprised by high 9s across the board.

The xboxox needs a killer app, a lot of pressure is on turn 10 to deliver.

Great scores!

Blog time:
I feel something that pulls me towards sim racing games, but I...don't enjoy them. Same as RTSs.

I downloaded the F7 demo, played and then deleted it, then downloaded again and will again delete it probably.

I am not a car enthusiast or even car person, but I love ETS2.
Maybe wheel instead of gamepad could change my enjoyment.

Does the integrity of any reviews published before launch day get questioned given there's a 50gb patch about to drop?

Colin from Polygon said that Forza 7 (and Assassin's Cred Origins) has pretty much sold him on getting an Xbox One X. He's definitely impressed with the game.

They could get special versions for the press. The only thing that's unclear is how much they were able to test multiplayer and all the social stuff prior to the premiere.

Indeed. Makes me think that the previously stated "impressions" approach is the better option to take right now.

I expect FM7 to be the premier racing sim this year.

90+ on MC is likely.

Come on, FM7 is likely to be a great game, but it's far from a sim, it gets further from a sim every year, the cars handle less and less like their real life counterparts with every iteration.

There isn't a 50GB patch. It's nowhere near that big.

They could easily have that content already. The content cutoff was for disk mastering/manufacture.

Pretty much this. I think simcade collectathon is more appropriate.

Hopefully this is a genuine return to form for the Motorsport series after 5 kinda damaged their reputation.

Good start. I have not even finished Horizon 3 yet so I will pass on this for now but judging by what i've seen, this will likely be the best racer of the year imo

We've got a few videos from the PC version up (only got our review code yesterday) if you want :)
http://www.gamersyde.com/news_forza_7_final_pc_build_videos-19547_en.html

It's not perfect, even in terms of performance, as our rig strangely seems to struggle with the game whatever the resolution we choose. We'll try to understand why there is so much random stuttering like in the demo, but until we figure that out (or the devs), enjoy our footage!

Ye looks like I will back off from buying the game until this is fixed.
Had the same random stuttering in the demo even with a 1080ti.
Some people claim the demo ran perferct for them which I hardly belive.

The 50GB patch is included in the preload for PC/Windows Store, so I guess every reviewer has it already.

It might be far from a sim, but I'll take the cars feeling fucking great to drive with a controller over Project Cars 2 and its wonky as a motherfucker controller implementation.

I'm looking forward to the game but lol @ that Windows Central shilling...

Forza Motorsport 7 is here, and it's absolutely superb. As if there was any doubt it would be.

They didn't fix that?

How is it 2017 and your game doesn't even have proper controller support?

Say the same when NintendoLife scores a 10/10 to a Nintendo Game or PlayStation Life with a Sony title.

Not to mention most non-Xbox publications will end up giving it 8.5-10 anyway, so it's not like they're giving 10 randomly either. Forza is one of the best racing series around, and it's coming from Forza Horizon 3 getting the highest Metacritic score for an arcade racer since like forever. FM7, on paper, has all the elements to go for that 90 MC rating. It's not like a 10/10 for ReCore or something.

I'm not arguing with that,because it's unwinnable!!!

But they two games aren't comparable, they are apples and oranges.

Technically, they did, as long as you don't touch any settings, if you do it messes everything up big time.

This basically. It depends on what you want from a racing game.

I'm sure it will review well and be a great game to fool around in with random cars, but sim it is not. FM2 was the last game they did that was more serious about the sim side of things.

And on the opposite side FM7 somewhat falls apart when you start using a wheel with it. So it depends on what's important to youand what you're looking for.

Sigh. This nonsense again? A handy way for you to deflect positive coverage?

You know they’re not, right? Never were. Microsoft paid Vox Media - the parent company who also owns the Verge/Vox/Recode/Eater - money to pit their Internet Explorer tag on their launch documentary as well as the series Human Angle. But if you want to keep pushing that narrative then go ahead but for the record they were never “partially funded”.

None of the reviews (at least the ones that are out now) even touch on the physics of the cars, I think that tells you everything you need to know.

For any question if the Windows Central score needs to be taken with a grain of salt you need to just take a look at the scores of the last few MS Studio games and the headline for Gears and HW2:

Halo Wars 2
Gears of War 4
ReCore (I have defended ReCore in the past but 4/5?)

Whatever it takes to turn a review thread for one of the most awaited racing games around into pointless console war. On the first page we already have people accusing publications of being paid by MS because they gave a high rating. That didn't take long.

And what is that? Does the average gaming press ever do touch on the physics? No.
Specialised sim sites will do that, but not Gamespot or IGN.

Well it certainly handles more realistic with a controller than other Sims I've played.

Tbh, I've found that a lot of the racing Sims actually are harder than performance cars IRL.

Saying that you need to take caution with that score does =/= console war.

Every iteration? Can you show me how FM5 was more sim like if you turn off all assists?

I swear some sim purists turn on Forza, see the heavily assisted first race, get angry and say "it's much worse than the last one!!!"

Great scores so far. I hope they get the PC version fixed very quickly though.

I don't know anyone who considers the FM franchise a sim racer. It had always strived for accessability over realism, which is perfectly fine.
