This is a question that's been circling my head a few months now.

The last girl I had a few dates with became a stripper : She absolutely loved it, her first night she came back bragging about how much fun she had.

She ended up crazy for many other unrelated reasons.

Two nights ago I got invited out for drinks by a local bartender who had made it clear she goes and strips occasionally. During conversation she let me know she's started camming and in her first 2 days made $1300 - and that's after the 50% cut of the website. Her friend makes even more than that.

Personally I've never found flirting bad - it makes you aware others find your partner attractive and to not be complacent - as long as it's just that, and I think I much prefer a cam girl over a stripper : They go farther, but no one is physically touching them.

I don't think I'd mind short term but like Barney in How I met your Mother I think after 6-12 months I'd probably grow old of it.

That last part is my favorite : My job means I'm constantly hit on, as have most the girls I've dated - I find ego boosting healthy to not becoming stagnant in a long-term relationship.

The younger part also strikes me : I'd share my girlfriend at 18, but now at 30 I'm not sure about dating a stripper or cam girl.

I don't even think I mind the sexual aspect as much as the safety : Guys are creeps, people on the internet go too far, and it's far too easy to track down people.

I'd prefer cam girl many times over than stripper but both have serious safety downfalls.

Strippers: I'd be completely fine dating them. I'd be more concerned about starting a drug habit than I would be about some fat dude groping her. As long as she doesn't fuck someone, get an STD, or start consuming shit like cocaine, I'd have absolutely no problem.

Nope. It's a poor long-term strategy. If you look at it from an opportunity cost perspective, those years doing that and not investing in a more sustainable career or business would be wasted. Not to mention the seedy exploitation in those industries, drug habits, etc.

With everything in life there is good and bad. Writing off someone due to their current profession is nonsense.

This really should be about you not giving a fuck what anyone else thinks.

Just ask yourself, "Do I find this woman appealing?" and "Do we vibe well enough to have a good time?"... if you answered yes to both then who cares what they are doing for money currently, things change in time. Hell I sold drugs to make ends meet before and now I am nothing like I was back then.

If it doesn't bother you then don't worry about it.

The profession isn't an issue, it's the accepted culture I don't like.

1. Safety. A lot of creeps who don't know boundaries.

2. Environment. The stripper life as I known it has been a lot of drinking, smoking, very late nights and to a lesser extent harder drugs. The girl I was with would smell of booze and smoke even when sober because she'd be surrounded by the stuff for 8 hours at a time.

This is before you get into the prejudice side that I don't support but my limited anecdotal experience says is very real; This means nothing to the individual but there is a reason it exists.

Remember how you said that last one was crazy? Put it this way , Demi Moore in whatever that movie was is about 1% of them the other 99% are well ... Unfortunately broken in some way . It's a degrading profession and it takes a certain type of person to do it, unfortunately that type of person is generally not a well rounded one. The actual profession of stripping or being a cam model doesn't concern me, neither does the attention they'd get from other men. What does concern me is the type of girl who typically does it, and those I usually wouldn't date/have a relationship with.

If the current girl I'm seeing started doing it I'm pretty sure I'd be fine with it, but it'd be wholly out of character for her.

My best friend once dated a cam girl/blogger for about 6 months, and another friend of mine has an on-again-off-again relationship with one of the biggest "pink bloggers" in Norway who does a bit of cam stuff on the side (and sells her used underwear for incredible prices). I understand it's possible to make quite a decent income doing these things, but that's in the short term and there is an inevitable social cost to these careers that will hang over the person for the rest of their life and unfortunately the world likes to judge, especially in this day and age of intense and unforgiving social media.

I wouldn't do it if you were 30+. Let's be honest, it's probably not going to work out unless they're ready to leave the job on their own volition, but they'll still probably start blaming you for it anyways, after the money flow stops. Also, at your age, if you really care about getting married or having a family or anything, all this time with the stripper/camgirl (while fun) will ultimately just be wasted time that you're not meeting someone you actually plan on staying full time with.

If you don't care about ever settling down, then go for it, but I still wouldn't expect it would last.
