1. Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt
jbyOvxmpi.jpg

"There lies a city on the fault line between Heaven and Hell, Daten City, where humans live under the constant threat of attack from evil spirits. Darkness invades

peoples' hearts, and not one person realises that it is consuming the city... There are those who seek to obliterate these manifestations of human desire with transcendent

light. Has the duty of repelling the darkness fallen to the messengers of God or the servants of Satan?" — from the anime's intro

The story centres on a teen-celebrity-like sex-crazed blonde-haired girl named Panty and a her sugar-addicted black-haired Goth Loli sister Stocking. Kicked out of heaven for

their misdeeds there, these two angels now have to battle Ghosts on Earth for Heaven Coin, to pay for tickets back to Heaven.

"Do the angels bring tidings of hope and light? Or do they bring despair and darkness?" Better bet on the latter!

stories, Mikado witnesses an urban legend on his first day in the city, the Headless Rider astride a black motorcycle. From then on, the existence of supernatural cases and a

of his eyes.
When a college dropout stops for a late night bite at a mysterious ramen stand, he crosses paths with a self-proclaimed deity of matrimony. This bizarre meeting sends the young

EDIT: Forgot to mention the point system.

That should be Shin Koihime Musou: Otome Tairan in the list, not Koihime Musou. Only SKMOT, the third and so far final season of the franchise, was in 2010, the other two seasons were earlier.

Also, the .hack//Quantum OVA series started in 2010, but finished in 2011... it was really good, but only when considered as a whole. Should it count for 2010?

1. Sora no Woto (Sound of the Sky) - Great, great series... just outstanding work. Music, story, visuals (backgrounds particularly), characters, it does everything well.
2. Angel Beats! - I liked it a lot. Good story and characters. Great ending too.
3. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The Movie 1st - Condensed versus the TV series, so watch the TV show too, but it is pretty cool seeing the fights with higher production values, and I like the additional story elements it adds as well.
4. Katanagatari - Really good. Would have ranked higher if not for the way they ended it, probably.
5 .hack//Quantum - Fantastic OVA series! Best .hack thing since Liminality.

Honorable mentions:

(6) Tantei Opera Milky Holmes - I liked this a lot, it just misses being in the top 5. Best comedy series of 2010.
(7) Shin Koihime Musou: Otome Tairan - A huge improvement from season 2, season 3 was great. It's too bad that it's over now... those last few episodes were pretty epic!
(8) Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt - Great comedy series, one of the year's best. Quite original for anime.
(9) The House of Five Leaves - Very good drama series...
(10) Demon King Daimao - Action harem show of the year. Yes, it's bad, but I want to list it anyway, it entertained me solidly.

That's quite a list in the OP

Here's my top ten:

1. Fullmetal Alchemist

....and that's basically it :/

I would add Durarara!! but I've only see the first six episodes. And I'm not really done with FMA, but I only have to see episodes 57-64, so I've seen more than enough

1. ブラックロックシューター

This fantastic direct to video movie (known as Original Video Animation or OVA in Japan) tells a touching story of friendship between two school girls that surpasses reality and time. Filled with action packed sequences and emotion packed drama, this is a must have for all fans of Japanese cartoons and Asian entertainment in general.

RBOqi.jpg

2. アイアンマン

Produced by one of the most respected animation studios in Japan (Madhouse - the creators of Devil May Cry and Death Note), this Marvel Anime powerhouse delivers a relentless pile driver to the audience week after week. Watch Tony Stark overcome one crisis after another in the mystical far eastern nation of Nihon, battling both super villains and cultural divides. The detailed 3D special effects add a well needed extra dimension to the action scenes.

RMAE5.jpg

3. 侵略!イカ娘

One of the surprise hits of 2010 was this hilarious comedy about a girl from the ocean world trying to conquer the land. Each week different devious schemes fail in epic proportions, while leaving the audience in stitches. Hailed as the Ren and Stimpy of the East, this series has been renewed for a brand new season in 2011.

5ucmk.png

4. ヒーローマン

An epic animated series two years in the making, this original superhero action adventure series was conceived by Stan Lee (the creator of X-men) and produced by Studio BONES (the creator of Cowboy Bebop and Fullmetal Alchemist). Much like the classic tale of Tetsujin-28, this series is about a young boy and his toy robot fighting evil and defending justice across Japan.

H5Udg.jpg

5. エンジェル ビーツ

This eagerly anticipated collaboration between the Japanese creative team KEY (creators of Kanon) and the studio P.A. Works (creators of Canaan) did not disappoint. With character designs which invoke memories of the critically acclaimed hit Haruhi Suzumiya, and an afterlife setting which brings back fond memories of Haibane Renmei, this action thriller delivers drama and suspense like no other. The creators were so proud of this project, they took out a full page ads in national newspapers to announce the premiere - a move that certainly paid off.

Anyway, 2010 sucked. There was nothing good except Durarara!!, which had a shitty non-end, and HeartCatch PreCure. I guess Ladies vs. Butlers was enjoyable too, but it's not like I'm about to admit that or anything.

Didn't realize FMA was 2010, that was good too.

Sora no Woto (Sound of the Sky) was also good.

Romanes Eunt Domus
  1. You Are Umasou: Dinosaurs kicking butt and learning the importance of family.
  2. Heartcatch Precure!: Cure Moonlight is GARer than Simon and Kamina and Kenshiro combined.
  3. Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt: Expanding your lexicon one expletive at a time.
  4. Giant Killing: The story of Jose Mourinho if he were an animu character and for some godforsaken reason he coached in Japan.
  5. The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya: Less Haruhi = Moar awesome
  6. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood: Screw the haters.
  7. Princess Jellyfish: Just cute all around.
  8. Shinryaku! Ika Musume: Just cute all around.
  9. Nodame Cantabile Finale: Padding the list like a loli pads her bra.
  10. Ore no Imōto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Na: For lulz

I could have sworn Madoka was released last year. Oh well.

1. Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt

Just what you'd expect from the guy that did Gurren Lagann if he decided to do a bunch of heroine and watch some American cartoons.

2. Shiki

A creepy and tragic story about
vampires
that questions humanity's justification of slaughtering animals for sustinence while simultaneously pitting them against a threat that makes them seem like the cattle.

3. MM!

An interesting and humorous twist on the harem genre where the guy taking all the abuse from bitchy tsunderes actually enjoys it.

4. Mudazumo Naki Kaikaku

The most epic mahjong match EVER. If only the game was like this in reality.

5. Toaru Majutsu no Index

The continuation of Touma's struggle against the Catholic church that doesn't act very Catholic. Also, Accelerator!

6. Highschool of the Dead

Tits and zombies. Not much to complain about. The Matrix physics is just icing on the cake.

7. Ore no Imōto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai

A more real look at shaky family relationships. A nice change of pace from all the series where the little sister's undying love for her brother pierces the heavens.

8. Sekirei

More Pokemon with tits! Minato increases his power as an Ashikabi while the elimination competition heats up.

9. Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto

Formulaic, but fabulous!

10. Shinryaku! Ika Musume

Too lazy to write something for this.

Why does the OP list K-On! in the list of shows? That series was released in 2009. The 2010 series should be K-On!! instead. It's very confusing to voters to have such important details listed incorrectly.

And Fullmetal Alchemist was a 2003 series!

But... Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a 2009 series, actually.
