Incredible. Congrats, Sony.

Software attach rates would be an interesting number to look at once they hit that 10 mil user base.

Exactly. With the US/UK defecting from xbox, the trajectory is locked barring MAJOR changes (a SONY RROD, or xbox free in cereal boxes)
I'm referring to both the consoles together. I was talking about the consoles are dead/tablets argument.

This bodes so well for future Third Party support, GAF servers will be down for weeks come E3 ;)

Good numbers for Sony , NPD numbers going to be low for Feb and the same thing for Japan next week .
Crazy how still running into supply problems .

The faster this thing sells the faster we can get rid of this cross gen crap.

Can´t wait for proper next gen games.

Tablets have slain handhelds. They haven't touched the PS4. Check out Aqua's historical numbers.
I'm saying this is a weird launch, last gen was super long. I'm not even really disagreeing with you- I just think it's waaaay too soon to make definitive statements like tablets aren't a threat at all/console market share isn't going to shrink.

"D"

I'm extremely insecure with how much f2p mobile games are encroaching on Nintendo

Glad too see ps4 doing so well I hope the xbox one doesn't fall to far behind I don't want too see a tablet only or tablet/pc only future. Is the 13.7 software sales numbers impressive, 13.7/6=2.28 tie in ratio?

Edit

So much this

I don't see any way that the Xbone outsells the PS4, even with the Titanfall pack in. There are only so many bros in NA willing to plunk down $500 that haven't already bought one.

Its going to be a lot easier for someone hyped for titanfall to find a xbox one then someone hyped for Infamous to find a ps4. But on the otherhand you don't absolutely need a xbox one to titanfall. Its going to be a very interesting sales month, but i see xbox one outselling ps4 due to flooded supply and a rise of interest due to tt.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Fantastic numbers so far, but Sony needs to start shipping more. Considering 370k in Japan, that leaves 330k for the rest of the world and...that's incredibly low. It means probably NPD February datas lower than 200k, or just a little over 200k, for example. And I'm also really interested in seeing how things will go on in the next months, agter the launch momentum where it's the core customers who are mainly buying it. Japan seemingly has already slowed down a lot, not expecting the same in the West, though: here, it should continue having at least good sales even when the thrist is over.

Ps4 still sold out mostly or in low supply where I'm at. Although you can pick one or two up from a Walmart. Would really like to see how many ps4 s sell by e3. I'm going to make a prediction and day 8.5 million by June.

One thing for sure, PS4 doesn't need Infamous to sell units. It'll sell out regardless for the time being.

Most people buy third party software. The only slowdown will be the typical one for summer and then the Destiny bump happens leading into the holiday season.
I wouldn't be so sure about it slowing down too noticeably in the summer. The sales could continue quite strong going into the summer months, considering games like Watch Dogs, Drive Club &such could release around then.

Supply constraints will be the reason it sells more. Even when I go to walmart or best buy I see waaaaaay more Xbones on display then PS4's.

Do people still think a big price cut is coming later in the year? , maybe that would put a few off buying.

Absolutely amazing numbers..sell through too

This means the death of cross-gen games will come sooner than later
Third party exclusives for the competition will be more expensive to acquire

Sony beat MS at their own game this gen..this is the 360 with better sales and a bigger first party

For most of the big games I don't think they'll abandon that 160+ million PS360 userbase for many years to come despite how this sells.

I forgot that. So the first week of Feb NPD sales for the PS4 are included in the 5.3M figure. Damn that's interesting

Oh maybe the software number is legit too here:

Valtteri Hyttinen @VHyttinen
4 months since release and 6 million #PS4 sold through world wide! 13,7 million games! #4ThePlayers

He's the Finnish PlayStation PR and Social Media Coordinator.

Also it appears the SW attach rate is approx. 2.2833 WW

Holy shit, that is brutal.

The PS4 is a monster. Xbone will still win March in the US, but the rest of this year should be a lock for Sony.

I have still only seen one PS4 on a store shelf since launch. That one now lives in my living room. :)

My local BestBuy has some in stock, very very few though. I see a bones everywhere though. Matter fact, they are going clearly out their way to push the Xbone over PS4 with some of the bundles they are doing. I seen ONE ps4 at a walmart and it was gone the next day I went. The aisles were fully stocked with Xbones though...

It is possible. The PS4 has long surpassed everyones estimates of when it would be readily available. I don't expect a big drop off but there usually is some by summer. Of course we don't know release dares of upcoming soonish software. Like if diablo 3 and gta5 come out in the spring to early summer these games would give the console another boost.

Supply constraints will be the reason it sells more. Even when I go to walmart or best buy I see waaaaaay more Xbones on display then PS4's.
in my city they haven't even fulfilled the preorders for ps4, and we've got ebgames and gamestops as two different stores here. there's bestbuy, futureshop, even freaking shoppers drugmart sells consoles. i feel bad for the peeps who placed an order before november. actually, i don't. let them suffer the same way i am suffering. of course they suffer more because they've actually preordered the thing.

Yes but Joe Public will want them nice shiny Titanfall bundle editions not them Black and Green units on a shelf. Can they produce enough, what will retailers do?

Though i have decided if Tesco have the bundle on launch then im joining XB1 :D

I think it is the other way around.
If you walk into a store, and you see multiple TF bundles and a PS4 sitting there.
Would you buy the TF bundle that you can buy anywhere and at anytime, or would you buy the PS4 because you will never know when you can get one the following month?

Sure, the PS4 doesn't have any game like TF...but the PS4 is rare.
Add in the SS bundle on top of the PS4, and you get a compelling situation during March.
