Xbox 360 has 3 games in the top 20 (counting RE5) which is not too shabby. Hopefully DOA4 will be a mini killer-app over there and help move some units.

I don't think you can count RE5 -- doesn't the system allow for people to vote for a specific platform in the case of multiplatform games? I seem to remember seperate entries for RE4 PS2 and GC.

Yep you can see beside RE5 they list the PS3 version and now the 360 version.

These most wanted lists aren't a particularly good indicator of how the games end up selling. So no need to get your hopes up Xbox fans.

This chart is useless when it comes to sale predictor though , it only shows how much attention each game get from the gamers

I swear, this game has been on Famitsu's Top Wanted for like a decade.
(incidentally the Top Wanted is only a reflection of what hardcore gamers want, I doubt the average gamer in Japan has even heard of Mother).

Wow, it's been forever since we got the last Famitsu top 20 most wanted.

I agree with everyone saying that this is useless as a sales indicator. KHII and FFXII being the only possible exceptions. (And hopefully Zelda. PLEASE!)

Damn, Okami is low on that list... I would've expected Zelda to be a little higher on that list, too. While these lists usually don't translate into sales numbers, I think they're a decent barometer for general buzz on a title...

These charts are a good indication of why "traditional" gaming is dying in Japan.

All the hardcore gamers are ignoring the games out now and are waiting for the sequels to these franchises.

I wonder how many gamers passed on getting a new game saying "I'll get Mother 3 instead soon." :lol

It's harder to be psyched about a game whose gamepley you've never experienced, than one you already know is good. The top four on the list are rather known historically for being consistantly good games.

Famitsu Most Wanted is not an indication about where is going japanese market, Famitsu readers love RPG games, and you will always find most of this kind of games in the chart.

For example, Winning Eleven is very popular in Japan and probably will sold more than games like Devil Summoner, GEnso Suidoken 5, Air Tonelico and so on.

About Famitsu Most Wanted you can say "hey, there is what japanese RPG fans want" not "hey, there is what japanese gamers want"

You'd be surprised at how many times the following has played out on Japanese message boards (partly due to the amount of times MS has blasted this commercial on Japan TV airwaves)

(Original poster) "I can't wait to play this, this game coming out on PS3 too right?"

(Reply) "No idiot it's being published by MS"

(Original poster) "Oh...well it sucks anyway!"

Once people get look at a non-sci-fi UE3 game (called Lost Odyssey) I think we'll eventually see that overtake BD as the most wanted 360 game. Until FF13 comes out I have no doubt that it will be the most beautiful RPG ever.
