A tricky and challenging single-player game, joyously mad multiplayer action, and an incredibly in-depth creator mode combine to deliver what is without doubt, the best LittleBigPlanet game yet. Wonderful stuff.

LittleBigPlanet 3 is by far the best in the series. It is the breath of fresh air the franchise needed going into the next-gen cycle.

Joystiq 4.5/5
The Adventure mode at the center of LittleBigPlanet 3 is a grand showcase of bold imagination like nothing else out there, with a wellspring of charm and warm-natured humor at its heart. Even so, Sumo Digital's brief 4-5 hours of polished, pre-made contributions pale in comparison to what could be – but that's essentially the point.

Game Informer 8.5
LittleBigPlanet 3 is a strong showing for Sackboy and company, but one that points to the fact that - unlike Nintendo's Mario, who's been reinvented many times over the years - this series' future is likely to follow the arc of another Sony platformer, Ratchet & Clank, by settling into a comfortable groove.

LittleBigPlanet 3 is a nice platform game for PS4 and PS3. If you say co-op you say LittleBigPlanet.

The story might not explore all of the potential, but briefly shines a light on what the new possibilities might be for those making their own levels. The wide array of new tools, the removal of limitations and addition of new characters and power-ups will all serve to empower the community to reach new heights.

With the best level design yet, this is more LittleBigPlanet, but the new characters help keep it fresh.

The push for creativity is limited in the way you play the campaign, but it’s an overwhelming presence within creation mode, offering boundless ways to leave your own mark on Craftworld.

Polygon 7/10
LittleBigPlanet 3's devoted fans will surely craft some excellent levels in the months to come, but mostly this feels like a proof of concept for a much better LittleBigPlanet 4.

IGN 6.8
It’s Adventure mode is beautifully designed, and new power-ups and character abilities switch up the usual bread-and-butter platforming gameplay, but it’s let down by limited options for co-operative play and most significantly, a number of game-breaking bugs on the PlayStation 4.

I feel like this is one of those games that is likely the best in the series, but because it is so similar to previous games it gets a lower score

Thanks for making the thread Ninja. Some great reviews in there, seems like the lower ones knocked points off for the amount of bugs. Hope some quick patches can fix those up.

After playing a few hours myself this is a fantastic game

And they said PS4 had no games.

They also say this isn't exclusive since its on the PS3...

Much better reviews than I expected. Good news for those who like these games. LBP has never really clicked with me for some reason.

This game is being pretty heavily berated for bugs. For something that will be easily patched/corrected, I think it's harsh to penalize the score by 25-35%.

Is there any editorial control at IGN? How is LBP3 criticized for its bugs and scored lower while Assassin's Creed Unity gets no mention until a post review edit?

I know I will love this game but man this is the reason why you don't review games before they are officially released. You get patches and the reviews don't play the patched version because they want it out right away :(

There was a pre-release patch and there's a day one patch focused on a lot of the bugs.

I reviewed it for PS Nation and while I ran into more bugs than any other LBP, most were (or will be) covered in the patches. Some of them were annoying but I wouldn't say it's filled with game breaking bugs.

anyway i am seriously looking into this game. i liked the first one a lot and i though the second was an enormous letdown. lbp3 looks like it's bringing back the platforming in spades though.

best part of sony's e3 to boot.

Only really happens with Sony 1st party games it seems. Reviewers changed the reviews for driveclub yet Halo MCC online doesnt work half the time and it's okay

Ah so they already fixed alot of them that's great.

Crosspost from OT

This is why reviews do matter in a lot of cases for me. They straight up tell you things that you wouldn't be able to know pre launch. The game will still be amazing for me though....

But i'm extremely disappointed hearing about the campaign. Going from LBP 1 to 2, what I LOVED about 2's story mode is how the levels really showcased the new tools you could build with. I was extremely excited to jump into the story mode this time around for that reason, but now i'm just sad.

It's kind of weird that IGN had Lucy O'Brien review LBP3. I mean, I think she has reviewed some games in the past, but in my somewhat limited time on IGN these past couple years she has been a primarily movie/TV person. I'm not saying she is the only low score the game has gotten or will receive, a 6.8 seems pretty low compared to most of the other reviews.

Eh, opinions eh?

Sounding good, only point of concern is them PS4 bugs. Hoping there's a patch for that very soon. Been a bad year for bugs.

Reading the reviews, its slightly concerning that they didnt really find a way to incorporate levels built around every characters mechanics. I know some would argue that thats what create mode is for, but honestly it kinda seems well.....lazy to do that.

How come IGN didn't rail hard about
AC Unity and it's game-breaking bugs? You can fall off the map for christ's sake and the performance is atrocious.
