So apparently the judges (various enthusiast press members) didn't vote for games in categories. They just sent a list of games they liked, and categories were decided later by Geoff and his people. It seems like a weird way to do things.

It's pretty much going to come down to Forza Horizon 2 vs. Mario Kart 8 more than likely... same will probably be true for many other sites/awards for the racing category.

I think unfortunately, this is arguably the weakest year for a very long time in terms of GotY competition.

Even Bayo 2, my GotY, wouldn't have won any year last generation.

2012 seemed much weaker. I think many still feel that it's why you saw Journey and TWD winning so many awards.
