What do you guys hope to see or what do you expect? I'm hoping for an RPG (wild arms!) but it seems unlikely

There could be some announcements.

Awards given out based on sales. There are also user nominated winners as well. But it's primarily about sales. This year is supposed to be a bit different since it coincides with the 20th anniversary of the release of the PSone in Japan.

Like I said, there are user awards as well and those are voted on. The main awards are based on sales. That's how the Billboard awards work as well.

This year because of the 20th anniversary it seems like there will be a special announcement:

“In order to thank everyone for supporting us for 20 years, in celebration of what’s to come we’ve been preparing a special PlayStation 20th Anniversary project that will be revealed at this year’s Playstation Awards. I hope we can all enjoy it together.”

They have this every year with no announcements. This is a bonafide corporate award event that awards platinum and gold hits to best sellers.

But this year is apparently a bit different because 20th Anniversary.

If it weren't for the 20th Anniversary, this would be the most depressing PS awards ever.

Japanese PlayStation sales range from dead to dying. Only one game has for sure broken 500k -- God Eater 2. Maybe they have overshipped enough copies of LRFFXIII and GT6 to Southeast Asia to reach the same mark.

Hide it all behind smoke and mirrors, announce one game and pretend everything is fine.

I hope we will get something Persona 5 or Gravity Daze 2 related but I expect absolutely nothing from this event.

I don't expect anything from the FsmitsuXDengeki event either.

If I'm not wrong, we've already have a PS Awards without a platinum winner a few years BC back. PS Awards has kinda hit the bottom floor for a long time now.

At least last year had GTAV winning Platinum.
