Insider Gaming sources have revealed that a Metro Exodus Sequel by 4A Games is well into development and is fully playable.

4A Games have been very transparent in the past that a new Metro game is coming, with Insider Gaming sources suggesting that the game is now fully playable. Such details suggest that the game could be revealed later this year, with a tentative release window of 2024 if Metro Exodus’ reveal and release schedule is anything to go by.

In 2020, 4A Games announced via its website “It’s no secret that we have already started work on the next Metro game. Using everything we’ve learned from the last 15 years, we’ve set our sights even higher – the next title is being built for Gen 9 consoles and PC, with a complete overhaul of our engine and renderer to take advantage of the new power, storage, and hardware supported ray tracing afforded by the new consoles.”

Details on what the game entails are scarce, but it was said that the game starts the player off in a dream sequence, where you’ll then wake up at your base of operations. Gameplay will follow the classic Metro formula of stealth, crafting, looting resources, and more.

The developer also revealed in 2020 that the team is “committed to delivering a great story-driven single-player experience; this is what the Metro series is founded on. As a studio, we want to constantly push ourselves to create bigger and better games, but we also listen to what the fans are saying, and we know what’s important to you. We take our responsibility to the franchise seriously, and we think you’ll be excited about our plans for the next chapter.”

Metro Exodus received generally positive reviews, and according to Embracer Group’s earnings, the game sold 6 million units as of December 31, 2022.

I'm in.

Exodus was brilliant and one of the most organic games when it came to the exploration - no digi-maps, no waypoints, no 474894924 icons on the screen/map to trigger the usual Ubisoft collect-athon OCD, you could find various tools/extra weapons/resources on a specific map by exploring or...not - just the way it should be.

Also : it had some of the best DLC's out there , the 1st was more of the usual Metro linear formula with an atmosphere so thick you could cut it with a friggin' knife while the 2nd was more Metro exodus.

One of the best and atmospheric games of last gen, looking forward to the sequel !

I really gotta get around to the Exodus DLCs

I really gotta get around to the Exodus DLCs

You really should man.
The 1st one, "the 2 colonels" is basically what some of the fans wanted - a more linear experience in the vein of the first 2 games that takes place exclusively inside the metro.it ties reaaally nicely and fills some "gaps" of the main game.
It's a very linear affair (almost to a fault) but...that goddamn atmosphere ...plus, that ending...not gonna spoil anything obviously.
Pretty short, about 4-5 hours long IIRC.

The 2nd one, "Sam's story" is just more Metro exodus which isn't a bad thing - it's pretty long too at about 12 hours of playtime.

Amazing DLC's friend, if you liked Exodus give them a go 😉
