.hack//fragment is out, huh? I didn't notice that yesterday. I see that Sonic Rush didn't make it, though...

The trailer for fragment looked awesome, but if it's simply another game in the style of that last four titles...I probably won't bother.

Arghl, Sonic Rush bombed hard.

We need teh numbers for Animal Crossing :D

It's very strange that Sonic Rush bombed in all territories. It's a good game, the franchise is huge, and the demographics are spot on.

Well I don't know about the states, but I know it had zero advertising in Japan, which doesn't help.

Seeing Sonic Rush, & Talkman flopping in Japan is really a sign of the times. Seriously though, Sonic Rush deserves to be selling big time.

FYI Sonic was never a big franchise in Japan. I can still never understand the fascination people have with playing through bloated incomprehensible levels running like a maniac.

As a platformer, most Sonic games are just terrible. There's very little sense in how the levels are laid out. My favorite was probably Sonic3, which was one of the more lienear Sonic games. I stopped played Sonic games after that.

Absolutely, I find it horrible, that such a great game is selling that badly.

I really don't think the Sonic franchise is as big/popular as some people think it is.

Personally I don't find the games fun at all.

edit: although I haven't played Sonic Rush yet.

I dunno, it flopped horribly in the UK, and the UK is the Sonic territory.

In europe it's also launching right next to mariokart and kirby. doesn't really bode that well for sonic.

Sega killed Sonic.

Now with that out of the way, it's nice to see Naruto hold it's own, even though it got pushed down due to the new releases.

Sonic just hasn't been that popular for a good 4 years. The only reason Sonic 2 Advenutre Battle sold so well was because it was a launch title, or thereabouts.

What game is this? Not the "Innocent Life" one? Port from gamecube?

It's probably the build they were showing at Osaka Games Festa... I tried it and it played almost exactly like Save the Homeland, but with a girl. It's certainly NOT Innocent Life.

It also played like shit with god-awful controls and very slow response time to all interactions. Shovelware.

Also, do we know for sure that JPN Wild World carts (a) won't be able to connect to American carts and (b) won't be able to connect to the Internet from non-Japanese IP addresses? Someone help.

So, how long does GAF expect AC: Wild World to stay atop the Japanese throne?

If there was any major release (that could do ~200k+ in its first week) today in Japan: till we get the daily charts for today (thursday) :D

In the UK, Sonic Rush launched the same day as Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire DS, and a week before Mario Kart, Kirby's Magic Paintbrush, Nintendo Touch Golf and Chronicles of Narnia.

It'll do business at a slow burn I think... right over Christmas.

Oh come on guys, Sonic has never been that big in Japan. I wouldn't call it a flop in the UK neither, as most DS games don't make the Top 40, Sonic or not!

Not surprised about Animal Crossing. It had 400k pre-orders, did it not?

Also impressive that Ratchet is beating Naruto for the GC.

Well yes but I think it's the stores themselves that have ordered 400k copies. I hardly think that there is 400k pre-orders from customers.

[sarcasm]I'm so glad the new Megaman EXE 6 versions sold well! gg Japan! [/sarcasm]

There seems to be an almost grocery mentality to buying games in Japan.

"Pickup some carrots and milk while youre out. Oh and that new Megaman EXE. And some Cheerios!"

You're thinking fo the wrong game.

You're thinking of .hack//GU which is a 3 volume saga featuring awesome graphics and an involving story. .hack//GU comes out sometime in 2006.

.hack//fragment is an online MMO version of the original game. I haven't looked into much about it, but basically from what I gather you go online, team up with others, and go fight in random dungeons using the engine from the original .hack series.

Nintendo made a smart move with its new Pokemon game. As usual, it is released in 2 versions, one blue and one red. The thing is, this time the blue works on GBA and the red only on DS through the GBA port. So that GBA Pokemon fans must buy the DS to get the full experience of the game.

Sonic Rush - La Bomba

Talkman - Despite the spin, bomba

Animal Crossing - WOW

I'm suprised that Sonic Rush bombed, although it is true Sega shouldn't have released the game on Animal Crossing's launch date. That's just dumb on their part. The game looks amazing to me though.

No. They're both the same game and Nintendo makes sure this is obvious on the packaging. The GBA version is the Red game and the DS version is the Blue game. The second screen on the DS is used only for a couple of incidental things and doesn't affect gameplay much at all. Also the Blue version has a bug that erases save data on a GBA cart you have in the GBA slot. Oops.

yeah, i heard about that. nintendo's offering to replace for free, but still, erasing save data is a pretty big oversight!
