It looks interesting. It's certainly a pretty movie. However, I checked out some of the reviews and I read by far the best line from a very scathing review.

I started reading(and stopped after 5 or 6) and noticed there was a pattern. It won an award at Cannes, but some people may have booed. Hell, apparently no one booed at Pulp Fiction.

The thing is, there's a difference between boos at Cannes and critical reception. Most of those movies, even immediately after the first Cannes screenings, had generally positive reviews by critics. Tree of Life had like an 85% on Rottentomatoes by the time Cannes ended, for example.
This film was not just booed but generally loathed by critics.
