Ended my first go at TLoU at a point where
the three of us are travelling through a wrecked building and I've dropped down to clear a room of runners and a clicker.
I am playing it on hard and am so totally IN. Since this came to PS3 (and I was only gaming on 360), I have been sorely tempted to watch videos of it to see what all the hooplah was. Sooooooooo glad I didn't. Great dialogue and delivery, a believable world inhabited by believable people, mystery and a gift for building the fear of discovery; this game is hella classy.

Also, the thread on 60 vs 30 is hilarious. Switching to 30 feels like I am having a stroke. Sold on 60 for life now.

It only gets better from here my friend. You're pretty much right at the part where the game truly starts to pick up. I always rush through the first sections of the game to get to that point as quickly as possible.

Can you play the Single player DLC before main campaign? If you can would you recommend playing that first or after the main campaign?

I've actually finished game on PS3 but never played the single player DLC but would be interested to see what people would recommend to play first to those people playing the entire game for the first time.

If you've already played the story through once then there is no real harm in playing the DLC first. If you haven't already played the story though then definitely play the campaign first! The DLC is designed to be played after the fact (hence the warning on the start menu).

Anyone else have an issue with accidentally launching photo mode while running? They really should have mapped this to something else

That said, this game is still so great the second time through. Trying on hard with no "spy" mode this time

So I took this screenshot and thought "hmm, this reminds me of something".

Then with my completely non existent paint skills I made this abomination.

I'm so sorry everyone :(

This game is sooooo fucking good. I never played it on PS3, so I am experiencing it for the first time.

Had my PS Golds blasting in the pitch dark. Played for a solid 4.5 hours last night. Seriously might be the best single player experience I have ever had. I did not want to stop playing. I somehow have avoided spoilers over the past year. I held out on the hope it would come to PS4.

Is it beneficial to finish the main story before dropping into the multiplayer? For instance is there any type of spoiler in multiplayer is more my concern.

Amazon still hasn't shipped my Steelbook. :(

Might go nuts and download it over PSN for the weekend if it doesn't arrive in time. Would have it twice on PS4 then. Well, YOLO.

PSN claims my Amazon preorder stuff code is invalid. Is there anything in it that make it worth the hassle of contacting either party?

Did you get yours from Amazon US? I have the same problem. They gave me a 13 digit code at first, then a 12 digit one after I told them about it. It still doesn't work though.

he's been running around non-stop, its kind of frustrating to watch, i guess hes out of ammo?

yeah he's low but you missed the bare knuckle brawl in front of the
school
he punched the hell out of all of the infected didn't fire a single shot and stealth be damned!

I think he's playing on Grounded difficulty. I was gonna try it for my 2nd playthrough, but watching that stream kinda off-putting to be honest. I would at least want enough ammo to not have to run in circles punching enemies, it takes away from the feel of the game imo.

I think I'll stick with hard, or maybe survivor.

Anyone else unable to download the multiplayer dlc items? Bought the ps3 season pass but there are no items to buy in the ps store. Eu btw. Thought there would be (new) scoped guns, but don't see those either?

hmm, played the opening part last night as I did no thave too much time , Looks great (on60fps) but for some reason I had tons of glitches that were not there for me in the original, for one some guys kept runnign in place against the sidewalk during the running through town scene, and shortly later a woman ran through a closed fence. And I had a few more weird ai things like that, it was kinda weird and jarring really because it breaks the illusion ..

Surprised I haven't seen more about this. Mine did the exact same thing, to the point where it eventually locked up my PS4. I had to pull the power out the back of the system, and the thing had to do a file system rebuild.

After it came back up, everything was fine, and my progress was saved. I played for two more hours without any glitches or issues. Really odd.

I'm not sure whether to play it on normal or hard. This will be my first play through. I have a lot of experience with 3rd person games, I just don't want it to be too tough on my first go, because hopefully I'll be motivated to finish this multiple times.

Then I'd suggest hard. It's challenging, but not to the point where you don't feel motivated to play it. You can always bump it down to normal if you find hard too difficult, but in my experience normal is way too easy and hard is perfectly balanced.

Mine had lots of glitches too, I guess it's not well optimized for playing while it installs. I stopped in the first appartment you go in, closed the application, started again and everything went fine afterwards.

Something is strange with 30fps mode. Its too sluggish. I tried Tlou remote play which is 30fps on vita with 30fps ingame off. Then 30fps on. Its much more sluggish. When it should be thé same

But still damn. Last Of us in my bed <3
Quoting myself. Anybody else tried?

Thanks. I'll try it on hard. So you can adjust the difficulty mid game? Great.

Made it a decent bit last night, getting to the
Capitol Building
and I realize that hard hasn't been overly hard. I've only died once and that was with the first actual clicker combat in the tower where you have to "clear the way" for the group. I've always had issues with that one anyway.

The game is just as good as I remember. The only complaints I got right now are there are still some lingering bugs and that the cut scenes look weird at 60fps. It's like it's too smooth for me coming from the original. I'll cope because everything is so buttery smooth during gameplay as well.

I'll add a few shots later tonight that I still need to transfer over from my PS4. I spent a bit too much time messing with DoF and some of the filters. Still need a good shot or two to go along with the photo booth overlays.

What's the difference between hard and normal? Arw consumables affected?

The amount of items in the world drop with each difficulty level. Easier ones give you more ammo and parts to use in crafting. Less so past Normal. Hard still has some, but makes you rely more on stealth kills and prioritizing how to use what you scavenge. Survivor nets you next to nothings the entire game.

Hard is probably the best starting point for this game, as Normal still a bit on the easy side with the amount of stuff you can get.

The spoilered part is the exact part I am at. I am having a ton of trouble with the combat and having no fun at all and I am playing on easy!. Please give me a reason to go on because the game just isn't clicking (pun intended.) for me.

What approach are you taking? Stealth, all guns blazing, mixture of both?

That was also a big roadblock for me (hard, no listening mode). First enemies are easy. For the rest of them you have to remember their paths and engage them so that you don't attrackt the others. It's a special area to teach you the mechanics/enemies, the hard way.
It doesn't stay that hard. Play further and you will see. Died at least 15 times at that part (PS3).

you can learn their paths, stealth kill them one by one, leave the clicker for last

Can I increase the difficulty using ng+?

I found that tricky. There is one really easy guy with his back to you, but everyone else seems to patrol through rooms with no easy to spot path. I did what I do a lot in games like this - do a couple properly by stealth, then accidentally get spotted by one, and then it turns into Benny Hill while I run away. I think you could probably hide out in the smaller room on the side and pick off a couple of them though?

If you stealth takedown a guy near a clicker, will it hear you? Stealth takedowns always seem pretty noisy to me.

This was the hardest part of the game for me on my first play through (Normal) and coincidentally I'm right at that point after playing this morning. You need use shiv kills

I'm playing on Hard this time and bracing for the challenge. :D

Don't forget to use those bottles and bricks to your advantage. They can be useful for separating groups if you're good with them.

@ JPizzle, in case anyone thought I was talking to myself :p
