Scalebound got very little hype.

Because theres nothing to be hyped about yet.

It's a Kamiya game, it'll get hyped when we see it properly, no doubt about t.

Plus, all the most diehard platinum games fans, the living, breathing hype machines, have bayo 2 much nearer in the future to focus on.

Pretty much this. I find it hard to be interested in a game that's just a CG trailer right now when Bayo 2 is just ~2 months away.

This and Phantom Dust could be a reason for me to get a Xbox One, but they're both really far away.

Which is good (for me), I guess, because I'm only going to pick up another console before clearing out all my last gen backlog if there's a sizable price cut first.

But yeah: I think it could be pretty cool, but we don't know much yet.

ntkrnl said March 2016 so it's over a year away so I have no idea when to expect more info.

March 2016 is the end of the 2015 fiscal year I guess, so I think its kind of a placeholder date. I personally think the game will get released in 2015.
Kamiya and whoever else moved onto Scalebound just got off TW101 late last year.

I'm surprised we even got the CG trailer. I wouldn't expect any news from this game until E3 2015. I'm also expecting a delay to Q3 or Q4 2016 because "just gotta keep adding stuff."

Well, I think Kamiya was working on Scalebound and TW101 simultaneously (while supervising Bayo 2 and Bayo 1 Wii U port). He said some stuff about his new project will be in "full motion" in 2014. And the other thing is, Microsoft is actually helping PG in development. Some guys from MS are listed as Design Director and Writer for Scalebound on their Twitter pages/LinkedIn pages. So with two teams working on it, I think we might see the game sooner than 2016.

A CGI trailer can build hype for an existing property. But it's useless for a new IP as you have no idea what the game will actually look or play like.

I'm sure we'll start to hear a LITTLE more about it once Bayo 2 is out the door
and when Rising 2 is done
.

Anyway, it's Platinum and Kamiya. They've already got my money.

It's kinda crazy to ever be hyped off of a CGI trailer. I'm pumped to see what the game is actually about due to the talent on board, but for now it's just a waiting game to that point.

I mean, until we see some gameplay, you're just going to see people riding the Kamiya/Platinum wave.

And, I don't know if you've heard, but Platinum games? Not the biggest sellers.

I just assumed that I'd finally have to buy an Xbox One whenever this comes out, and decided not to focus on it until then.

JP said they were going to be a silent about the game for a little while, though (edit: more accurately, he said they wouldn't have a new trailer at Gamescom). Probably following him on twitter is the best way to stay up to date. (@pg_jp).

There is no point in getting hyped over a CG trailer to a 3rd person action game. Without game play there is nothing to be excited about.

When game play comes then we can open discussion about the game's mechanics and what not.

Really the only reason this game is on my radar is because Kamiya is making it.

That would be great but only one of his directed games have ever release in less than 3 years from the previous one, and this game will likely be much more complex to design than Viewtiful Joe. Q3/Q4 2016 is my bet until we get some concrete news.

I have no plans to buy an Xbone and hence no plans to play Scalebound. I'd be extremely happy if it came to PS4 but it probably never will.

MS own it so it definitely won't.

Im very interested in seeing what its like, ntkrnl said 2016 but I'm still hoping it ends up as a holiday 2015 title, we'll find out at TGS I guess

It's random CGI. I care for it as much as for The Order for a long time or Wild today. Not at all. If anything this kind of buisness makes me less likely to get hyped or buy a game.

For me it's a combination of how far away it is and that it's for xbone. I don't really have any plans to purchase one for now so it's hard to care.

It's a Kamiya game so i'm not really worried about it even though it's supposed to use unreal engine 4. This guy could make a game about lee carvallo's putting challenge and i'll be there day one.

Also, honestly, the trailer didn't exactly thrill me. Kamiya makes great games but the setting for this one doesn't instantly grab me like Okami, Bayonetta, Devil May Cry, etc.

The hype will come when the first gameplay is revealed. Earliest we could possibly see it is at TGS 2014, latest is TGS next year. Most likely to debut at E3.

"Here's Hideki Kamiya, here to present the first Scalebound gameplay!"

"Thank you, here is my game, fuck off idiots"

It's a Platinum game so I'm interested, but it seems to be several years away and all we've seen is a CG trailer so it's hard to get too hyped.

I'm probably the biggest PG fan here. But, no gameplay has been shown and its too far out to get excited about at the moment.

Really? The Uncharted 4 thread was really hype

Well one is an established IP and the trailer was revealed to be real-time graphics. The other is a new IP with a CG trailer. Not sure why you are comparing the two.

OP: Not sure what you expected. The game is obviously still a ways out, and Microsoft has a bunch of titles launching sooner that they needed to give attention to. Stuff like Quantum Break and Master Chief Collection.

BatDan

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.

Now I'm imagining a golf game with Kamiya's insanity
"It's on the green"
*giant dragon appears*
"Hmmm, looks like I'm gonna need my 9-iron for this"
*takes out a gun with the words 'Nine Iron' on it*
"Let's go little Birdie"
*badass fight*
"Phew. Oh no! A swarm of of smaller enemies in the sky!"
*gets in rocket-powered golf kart*
"SPACE HARRIER!"

I don't know how anyone could possibly not be hyped for this game, it's my second most anticipated game right now (after Persona 5).

Action game involving dragons directed by based Kamiya, enough said.

There's simply not much to get hyped over yet. Once more info starts coming out the hype will most likely increase.

Its too early and they showerd very little, the focus now is on Bayonetta 2.
Fuck it, right now we need hype for Bayo 2

Platinum game directed by Kamiya with a CG reveal and absolutely no gameplay info whatsoever.

I'm sure it'll be fucking awesome but we have pretty much nothing to go on at the moment.
