Oh, I make that comparison a lot... written some giant walls of text on why they're probably my two favorite games of the last decade and a half or so.It's the Final Fantasy 12 of the Metal Gear Series-
A gameplay-above-all marathon of quality content in a remarkably immersive and believable world.
Snubbed and criticized by lesser-minded children who expected more handholding, more cutscenes and a totally deep and profound storyline like the other entries. They drew the line and gave up early in frustration and disgust when the nuanced gameplay dared to try and get them to use their fucking brains.
Low-key the best in the series by a landslide.
They both have a sort of creative sandbox of options that constantly keep me playing, month after month, always coming up with new ideas, rules and constraints, and themes for my playthrough or sortie out onto the battlefield.
