We've come a long way from "Home on the Range" and "Chicken Little".

... I'm beyond happy that Disney's back and my niece has a new wave of Disney classics to enjoy just as I did during their Disney Renaissance.

I can only imagine the rendering time all that water took.

Trailer made the movie look kinda trash, but Disney trailers are never representative of the final product.

Yeah. the trailers for Tangled and Frozen were also not great. Disney, for whatever reason, can't make good trailers for its princess movies.

This does look beautiful, its the first time in awhile im impressed with CG Disney/Pixar visuals, they start to look similar after awhile.

Tbh Frozen was kinda bad except for the song and a few parts.

I think this one comes down hard on preference.

I know a lot of people that just absolutely ADORE Frozen and a lot of girls who love how it turns a lot of the Disney tropes on their head. It's got a small army of young girls that loved the quirky characters and pretty dresses, and a lot of older girls and young women (and men like myself) who appreciated Disney subverting some of its more outdated cliches and breaking out of a mold they relied on for multiple generations.

Moana is looking pretty similar in that regard. A very "untraditional" Princess story. I don't think we're supposed to view Maui as her "prince" for instance, so she might be the first Disney Princess who just outright has no love interest whatsoever (excluding Pixar's Merida).

Looks fantastic, based on the art style.

Wonder if the 3D Blu-ray will a) exist or b) just be hard to find?

I want this in HDR, Disney. Make it happen, get on that UHD boat.

Silly fan. You'll have to buy it at least twice on Blu before that happens.

A Disney film hasn't had a truly great villain since Princess and the Frog... I hope this film fixes that.
Even though the movie doesn't hold a candle to PatF over all, Tangled had a pretty great villain. Still, Dr. Facilier is one of my all time favorite villains.

Out of all of the teasers and trailers, this one was by far my least favorite.

Didn't like anything about it, besides the cuteness of the chickens and the minor villains. Didn't like the tone, writing, characters, or voice acting, and while the visuals are nice the aesthetic is the opposite of what I want from a movie.

I'm struggling to figure out whether I am overly cynical about this movie because I hated Zootopia or because the marketing has genuinely let me down, but I think it's a little of both.

I thought the trailer was great. The footage they'd shown before was beautiful visually but didn't really do much at selling it as a movie. I also thought DJ sounded a little out of place earlier, but it all felt very natural here. A major improvement.

Gotta admit I was in "wait for blu ray" mode on this before, but this trailer has me thinking I'd rather see it in the theatre.

Too bad my wife isn't really a big animation fan...

Damn, I get people not thinking the subject matter is their thing, but I'm not seeing what's so particularly offensive about this trailer versus others. Shrug.

lol

I'd rather it was just the the girl and an animal side kick. The whole tagalong demi-god thing feels shoe-horned in.

Hmm. Kinda hard to judge from a trailer, I think.

Anyway, it's just insane how good Disney has gotten at their craft. The animation, the character design, the colours, water simulation... It's like in every frame, every single pixel is just perfectly placed.

I don't know how Disney consistently puts out mediocre/bad trailers for their animated films. Especially their musicals.

Hell, the last few it's pretty much impossible to know they're musicals until you go see the movie unless you have done some research.

I very clearly recall the trailers for Tangled and Frozen (and now this) all making their films not look that great. And then I'd be inevitably dragged to the movies and have a great time. You would think with Frozen being such a massive hit thanks to it being a musical they would have revised their strategy a bit.

But oh well. I trust Disney enough where I'll see this regardless of this or any other trailer. I am sure it will end up good. Marketing is just weird as always.

I actually like the way Disney does their trailers. They keep all the singing out so when these things air on TV over and over again you aren't completely tired of hearing whichever song they keep on playing.

The last trailer called out "featuring songs and music by...." (40 second mark) with one of the songs playing through it.
