Resident Evil Requiem |OT| Through the Darkness

I always thought the tape deck was cool. A nice change from the typewriter but I'd go back to the typewriter for all the audible sensations of the original.

Classic difficulty with ribbon saves for me.

It adds tension imo and makes the game feel more grounded, oldschool like it did back in the day.

I know I am minority here but I think a lot was lost when the standard became autosaving and checkpoints. It makes sense for some games and genres but for linear survival horror it totally kills the fear and anxiety of combat for me.

Anyway, my usual pick of reviewers whom have opinions I trust have all given the game standing ovations, my hype went through the roof when Jon said it's the best modern Reaident Evil game period.
Ribbon in the Typewriter as well for me, coming from a player who enjoyed the OG RE2 and RE3 on Ps1. It adds tention and challenge to the game.

Without spoiling anything about the story. How does the game look on the PS5 Pro? Any artifacts? Any shimmering/pulsing shadows? Does it look nice and sharp? Does ray tracing look good? I'm going to be playing it with it's highest quality setting, not frame rate.

For those who've played it already — I need real impressions.
Resident Evil 4 is cemented in my top five of all time.
Is this in the same league?

I haven't played it, but the impressions I've been hearing is that that it's very high tier, but not on the IP's Mt. Rushmore.

Ribbons are not a problem, but they penalise you on the first run when you don't know what is coming and when. Later on if you know you can optimise and then it doesn't make much sense because you gamed the system.

Resident Evil is a franchise I really appreciate but haven't played many of the entries. Something about the setting of Requiem and the look of Leon's gameplay (it just looks like it feels fun to play) made me want to play this one. I'll be playing on Switch 2.

I'm gonna have to go on media blackout soon, because I'm probably not gonna get to play actual Requiem until Tuesday I think. I gotta work all weekend, and while I can bring my Switch 2 to work with me and play it at my desk, I don't want my first experience with Requiem to be like that. Maybe I'll use that time to replay 7 and 8 a little bit on Switch 2.

Capcom sponsored short horror film to spend time while waiting for your own RE9

In Case You missed the official short movie from Capcom

Man, I'm pissed. I ordered the game from amazon thinking that most of the smaller retailers would be sold out etc.

Just got an email to say my order has been delayed due to lack of stock. Fuck sake.

Any of the UK retailers still have stock? I'm on the road to work at the moment and will be radiosilent all day without my wallet at hand, so cant order anything until I get home tonight.. :(

unfortunately I still got 4 Resident Evils to finish before Requiem, otherwise this would be a day 1 purchase for me as well. Guess this, Saros, the upcoming wolverine game and GTA6 are the best games that'll come out this year.

Just finished 7. Currently going through 8. Should be on 9 by the weekend :messenger_tears_of_joy:

The locations in 8 are pretty damn nice to look at, the castle interior is certainly something to behold, it has to be said. The gameplay is pure trite, but those aesthetics? That's some good stuff.

It's nice they sped things up a notch too, 7 felt like wading around in mud 90% of the game.

Yeah, looking forward to 9

Old wounds, I can't forget

Night steals away my sight

Screams, I can't shut them out

What if I had I wouldn't have walked alone

reached out to you?

I wouldn't have walked alone

Fighting the darkness holding me

Dragging me to the ground

Facing the pain that's controlling me

I won't let it keep me down

Still can't believe they managed to get Randy Orton's lyricist for this game.

As much as I love franchise I just don't like the concept of switching playable characters back and forth and it seems it's even wrorse, because the game is divided into two sections where the first half of the game, lets say first 4h, we play mostly as Grace with stealth approach, and the second section, next half of the game, we play as Leon with action approach. So if you like only one type of gameplay then you don't enjoy (hate) the other part of the game, and vice versa. Moreover, you only have half of the game that you enjoy, which is very small, you cannot commit to just one character development etc. I would very much more like the approach where u can play the game from start to end with just one character and type of gameplay, and then you can start over with the other character. That would be much more fun I think, and would be better overall game experience for everyone in the end.
That's the only and very big reason I will rather wait for discount to play it.

Hamilton is a great watch company to collaborate with. Their products are not obscenely expensive and high quality. The chrono is beautiful.

Then again, the khaki field auto Chrono black is cheaper and looks better than the RE9 collaboration one due to it not having that gaudy wing graphic 😉

Looking at buying 2 Hamiltons in the near future, both khakis, both quartz since i can't be arsed with autos (no matter their power reserve, already have a Tissot PRX auto).

The Death stranding 2 one is glorious but...it's sold out everywhere and it only goes for scalper prices ('round 3000+€)

yogaflame yogaflame It's better to SPOILER TAG IT. Thumbnail changes and may spoil something to someone.

Maybe the first on PS5, there was a leak livestream playthrough on Switch 2.

🇰🇷

Its done. Damn, I dont know if what they are putting in the comments are true, but I hate the other gamers putting spoiler comments on some live playthroughs right now.

Any comparisons between PS5 Pro and PC yet?

Undecided if I go with 4070 Super or PS5 Pro.
