Resident Evil Requiem has sold 5 million copies

Im so happy for Capcom. Well deserved success. Single player game success, not a gaas crap. No twisted woke slop and no pride agenda crap. Very based. Congratulations. But I hope they add psvr2 support in the future.

After just rolling credits an hour ago and seeing the reception, I'm not surprised. Meanwhile, actual great games struggle to crack 5 million.

Man, I respect your opinion, and I get that it didn't land for you, but I've been playing this Resident Evil games for three decades. I've seen this franchise at its highest highs and lowest lows. And to me, this is Resident Evil at its absolute best.

Calling it a 6/10? I genuinely don't see how. The atmosphere, the tension, voice acting, the callbacks, the gameplay loop, it all feels like a love letter to what made this series iconic in the first place.

You don't have to love it but calling it a bad game? C'mon man

It's well deserved. It's a top 5 RE of all time. They should support the game for a while. Hopefully there's a mercs mode coming.

Wow, so it's already break-even if we count in a budget (including marketing) of 250 million.
Well deserved!

I get it and I don't mean to belittle everyone's positive reception. I don't know why it landed so badly for me when I loved 2 remake, 3 remake, 4 remake, 7 and 8. I somehow never got to play their games before that other than a little bit of 5. May be the game difficulty in Requiem (or lack thereof) hit me the wrong way and everything else around it fell completely flat as a result? The mode above standard/normal in all their other games hit the absolute sweet spot for me. This was just one big yawn!

I just don't know. Biggest disappointment for me in more than a decade.

I'd still not call it a bad game though. Just really frustrated by the design choices, especially around Leon. It feels like it was built entirely to invoke nostalgia than challenge me in any way, be it skill or thought. Now I have to artificially pump the difficulty up to ridiculous levels to salvage something out of it. Which is shocking because I'm not even that good. I'm literally the first one to die in any multiplayer shooter to the extent that I gave up on that genre altogether. And I absolutely suck donkey balls at souls games. And yet this felt like I was on autopilot every time Leon showed up.

First GOTY contender of 2026 and top 3 RE deserves all the success in the world, thoroughly enjoyed my 4 playthroughs to get the plat trophy 🧟‍♂️

This.

Hopefully it sells much more than 7 and 8 so capcom understand what to do going forward.

Still not as magical as the first 4 but definitely better than anything they have done since re5 except the remakes of 2 and 4.

Japanese devs should fucking stop locking difficulty modes behind completition, it's retarded to not have all difficulty modes or at least an hard mode unlocked for the first run, the game is indeed pretty easy after the first 2-3 hours.

Well deserved. Last Resident Evil I played was almost 20 years ago in the form of RE4 on fucking Wii, but it's like I never left. And I got a taste of the new RE 7 and 8 mechanics as well.

Have not played it yet because ive been glued to Blazblue Entropy Effect X but it's next on my list to start playing in terms of new games.

It is an actual great game. You already know your opinion is rare af so coming in here and claiming it isn't great because of your unpopular opinion serves only to shit up the thread. Just seems attention seeking. Especially when you come back saying 8 is better. Seems like you just want to be a contrarian.

To have news like this on the same day Highguard is shutting down, even though apparently single player games aren't compatible with the modern gaming industry, should be wake up call but it won't.

I don't know about anybody else but for me liked RE9 as much as I did OG RER, RE2R and RE4R.

1000 times better than RE7&8 and 100000000 times better than RE6&5.

This. I absolutely love seeing games like this being successful. I usually never buy a game at full price, but I did with this one, first time in many years. It also runs pretty well on the Steam Deck, which helped as well. That game really checks all the boxes for me.

Would love to play it but i'm not the biggest Horror games fan, i get scared easily. But the game looks fantastic.
Question to people who played it, is it scarier than RE4? Because that was alright scarewise

Resident Evil Requiem is superb. The success is well-deserved in my opinion.

It might not offer anything original but it takes all the best bits of the prior games and turns it into something that is really entertaining and enjoyable to play in my opinion. It is also the best looking RE game yet, particularly with the PC's path-tracing enabled, and I love having the option to switch between a first and third person option (although I think having this mapped to a controller button would have been better than having to go into the menu to change it).

The best "new" RE perhaps. RE2+4 Remake were superior. Leon parts in Requiem are way too reminiscent of RE6. That game did irreparable damage to the series it seems.

RE2R, maybe. That's a top tier RE game for me, along with RE1R and RE4 OG. The remake of 4 is great but I actually find it to be a downgrade from the original especially in terms of atmosphere. I enjoyed Requiem more.

Some of the Grace sections are quite tense. Most notably the basement in the hospital which I would say is scarier than anything in RE4.

Second half of the game is very light on scares though.
