Resident Evil Requiem has sold 5 million copies

And 46 million of those 5 million copies were sold in Spain.

I don't know about anybody else but for me liked RE9 as much as I did OG RER, RE2R and RE4R.

1000 times better than RE7&8 and 100000000 times better than RE6&5.
RE9 sits in my second tier with 0 and 6. I don't think I can put it up there with REmake and REmake 2 since the most interesting and fun parts or RE9 kind of go away after the hospital while I get exactly what I want out of the REmakes the whole way through. Well, aside from Leon's campaign in REmake 2 anyway. Which isn't to say the rest of RE9 isn't fun but it just isn't as inventive or compelling outside of a few moments here and there in the latter half.

RE2R, maybe. That's a top tier RE game for me, along with RE1R and RE4 OG. The remake of 4 is great but I actually find it to be a downgrade from the original especially in terms of atmosphere. I enjoyed Requiem more.
RE4 Remake was top tier and is probably a big reason why Requiem made these numbers now.

maybe it's in my head but I feel like the marketing for this one was off the charts compared to the recent remakes and mainline games.

I saw ads EVERYWHERE, in real life and online, busses, subways, insttagram ads the works. I don't remember seeing much for Village or RE2R..

Thats the difference vs all those bad modern audience western AAA games, game had less budget from AC:S (coz mostly developped in japan, they got 2-3x lower salaries from western devs) and still sold lots more already(actual sales, not players aka subs), 10m durning launchwindow aka fullprice is very likely and 20m(or maybe even 30m with inevitable ps6 rt version) is possible lifetime :)

Great game. It wasn't trying to push any agendas or sell mtx. It was just a great game. It really did remind me of having old games sensibility.

It also released at a perfect time. Not much else out there right now on this level.

RE continues to be an open invitation to the fans who loves the series. No bullshit, no agenda. Just the game that fans wanted.
I already can't wait for the next instalment to have Chris. At least I hope I can play with him.

5 million copies sold. IN 5 DAYS. IN-FUCKING-CREDIBLE. 😎🙌

Game is truly great here folks. Well deserved! Single player games ain't dead yet! I'm hoping Onimusha can pull some good numbers once it's released.

Phenomenal game.
It could have been a little longer allowing some characters to shine more or had a raid/mercs mode but what's in there it's awesome.

Failed GaaS companies looking at Capcom and be like "so the secret to success is good single player games??"

Good for them. Loving the experience between Grace and Leon. Worthwhile day 1 purchase that runs great too.

Jesus that's insane. I wonder what's the cause for that quantum leap in sales, beyond just word of mouth for how great it is.
As a newcomer to RE, I was just wanting more of Silent Hill 2 and thought this might be close enough so gave it a try. Glad I did.

Would love to play it but i'm not the biggest Horror games fan, i get scared easily. But the game looks fantastic.
Question to people who played it, is it scarier than RE4? Because that was alright scarewise
Only REmake and RE7 try really hard to be scary, the rest are very videogamey action games at the core. RE9 is more of a stealth game with grace and an action power fantasy with leon.

Capcom be dragging that big dick around.

Well here's some things to consider:

  • They can't really attribute the game's success to Leon's action bits because half the game is Grace, which most people say is the strongest part.
  • If you look at reviews and player feedback, there's a general consensus that Leon's section in RC is the weakest part of the game.
  • It took many years for them to have this kind of first week sales again after the disaster with RE6. I would hope they know better to not go full tilt into action territory and make that mistake again.
  • Even if they accidentally make RE6 again, we still have remakes of RECV, RE0 and RE1 in development, so we'll still be eating good for the next few years at least.

Well deserved. I just rolled credits last night, and I wanted to clap lol. I doubt anything else coming out this year will be as good. (for me) I don't give a toss about gta.

Japan and Asia in general just kicking ass ... thank god. If only Nintendo got me a decent current gen hardware I would definitely dump PS and go for the Switch.

Deserved. Fucking great entry.

Bit off topic, but... from the wiki;

"Resident Evil Requiem received "universal acclaim" from critics for most platforms, except for the PlayStation 5 version which received "generally favorable" reviews, according to review aggregator website Metacritic."

Literally the best performing console version, and doesn't have stuttering like the PC version. Bit weird.

I bought it 3 times. You're welcome CapGods. Waiting for the dust to settle but it may end up being my favorite RE ever.

Singleplayer > GaaS

Good work Capcom. Make good games, get good results. Is that simple.

Take notes Sony.

Awesome. Are you going to go through the rest of the series now?
Perhaps in a gaming lull (Crimson Desert coming out soon). Also I don't know if rest of the games have Grace-like gameplay segments? If it is more action (Leon-like gameplay), then maybe not.

They nailed it, damn they nailed it.

Between this and Nioh 3 we've been eating good this year.

It's too bad Onimusha doesn't have the same recognition as RE because I thing that it is also going to be a banger but probably won't get anywhere close in sales because it's more niche.

Best boy Leon showing what happens when you let longtime RE fans pilot a core character once again.

Now give us a Chris and Jill game. Clone army of Weskers to fight. Zombies that can move and dodge bullets like him slightly. Return to the mansion to find ANOTHER mansion under there.

The original games from the 90s ( 1-3 and Code Veronica) had a good mix of survival horror and action, the latter got ramped up in a major way with RE4 ( originally a Gamecube exclusive that infamously has been ported to every system known to man since), continued with 5, until they jumped the shark with 6. Which forced them to return more to their horror roots with 7 and 8. I'd start with those if you're more into Grace's gameplay.

But I must say, RE2 and RE4( both the OG and the recent remakes) are GOAT level games into, but they also star Leo( 2 also has Claire Redfield as a completely separate playthrough).
