Looking forward to next week where we get the full three days of testing on f1tv app versus pathetic final hour of 3 days last week.

This will be my 29th year watching F1 and I have never looked forward to a season less.

The drivers are going to be spending too much time managing energy systems. Traditional racing seems unlikely.

I trust your perspective. For someone who has only watched for 5 years or so, it seems like it will break things in an interesting way. I expect this has been in the cards before and it was not a great watch, but on the surface, it seems to me like it will be a wild ride.

I think it will be high on random incident and wacky intrigue, which is ok because we had a lot of reliability and the drivers skill on display last year.

Senna got a Sonic trophy, now Neymar turned into Sonic. It's coincidence?!

Senna won the Sonic trophy in 93, 94 world Cup in the US.
Neymar becoming Sonic in 25 (last season image, of course), 26 World Cup in the US.

What does that mean?
Nothing, besides Half Life 3 confirmed and Brazil sixth world cup.

I haven't seen any drivers praising the regulations or the cars this season. We're going to have some real surprises on the first races.

Red Bull Racing has confirmed the departure of chief designer Craig Skinner from the team after 20 years, RacingNews365 can confirm.

Skinner's reasons for leaving the team are unknown, but according to RacingNews365's sources, he has decided to leave of his own accord and the departure has nothing to do with a wave of purported other departures in connection with the team in recent days.

Skinner joined Red Bull in 2006 after spells with Jordan and Williams, initially as a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) engineer, before rising to group leader in 2009.

He then became deputy head of aerodynamics, and then chief aerodynamicist in 2018.

In 2022, he was appointed chief designer and was a key architect of the 2023 RB19 machine, the most successful car in F1 history.

At the time of writing, there is no information about Skinner's future plans after leaving the team, nor about who will replace him at the Milton Keynes-based team.

In a statement, Red Bull confirmed Skinner's departure to RacingNews365.

"After 20 years with the team, Craig Skinner, our Chief Designer, will be leaving the Red Bull Technology team," it read.

"Craig has been an integral part of our team and its success, and we would like to thank him for his hard work and commitment.

"The whole Red Bull team wishes him all the best for the future."

I don't know who else is in this "wave of other departures" but it's not the best of news right before the final test begins.

You're right about the focus on balancing car energy. It's already been a lot with brake balance, fuel savings, tyre management. All usually translating to: Car not racing.

Still, out of recent seasons I'm looking forward to this one for the chaos. Seeing and hearing just how different they all are fills me with excitement that we might see a mixed up grid. If they can get off the line, cause those cars look like they're a challenge to start. The turbo needs a lot of energy to get going so the drivers sit on the throttle for an age before moving or not as some of the pre-season test starts shown.

Also, I'm a brazilian, we recently won our first ever gold medal in the Winter Olympics, so not just Fifa 2026 we will won, but Bortoleto also will win it too

I guess the memes are happening

If Haas' max top speed with Ferrari engine is to be a benchmark of how fast the engine is, then Ferrari was sandbagging during the tests. Ocon has the fastest max speed of all the cars.

The pilots seem to hate the new cars but I think it'll be interesting to see where all teams will land.

I think a lot of GT/Forza fans identify with F1 and it's many unique tracks. I think going to a streaming service is controversial.

Ultimately f1 has been on pay TV for a few years now in the US via espn. Its not like you could watch all the races on free to air TV. Last year I paid for f1tv premium subscription so I could stream the races in 4k (I dont have ESPN via cable subscription). This year that coverage is included in the price of appletv sub.

I swear if Hamilton has another 22 / 23 / 24 / 25 I'm going to claw my eyes out.

God I hope this era of rules suit him better than the last few years have, they can't be worse......

Otherwise anyone but Lando / Verstappen / Russell ftw plz.

I never really understood the hate Lando gets to be honest. First it was 'he doesn't have the mental capacity to be an F1 champion', he wins it then it's 'he's only the champion because of the car' (like that's never a thing, oh, wait, that's the case 9 times out of 10 and the car doesn't drive itself (yet))

So..... Is this the new OT or do we continue in the 2025 one and rebrand it?
We are not EA, mate

I guess it's because of his personality or charisma, or lack of... I don't hate the guy, far from it, but I can't really love him. Piastri shows way better approach and there's a chance that will win in the near future, and he's way younger. Basically every driver you have something to say, even if is bad things like Stroll, but Lando just doesn't have

It's nice to get a taste of some wild ideas, which is what testing should be about.

Think of what it would be like to have 2026 F1 style coverage but back in the late 70's and some team rolls a Tyrell P34 onto the track.

The commentators were joking about the front flaps starting to do full powered rotation to kinda emulate the glory days before that was banned.

I am watching Drive to survive and you see these teams that are back of the pack struggling. Is it because of the car or the driver? Could you put Verstappen or Norris and put them in an Alpine and watch them get podiums?

Mix of things

Hülkenberg got the first podium ever past year. Why was that? If you focus on him, outside of accidents, like half of races the car just stops working. If he was at Redbull or Mercedes, maybe he could get more wins, but chances are that would be Sergio Perez level of winning and not world championship winner

Another example is with Hamilton, and is a whole different case. Ferrari did what Ferrari does and made the 7th world championship winner get lost in it's own mind. If the team itself don't know how to direct, the best driver that could ever exist will not do his job

I've seen a former team principal say that he thinks that the worst driver in the best car could win a race but the best driver in the worst car couldn't.

I'd love to root for Ferrari again; I really like Leclerc, but Hamilton is such a fucking self-important douchebag that I can't bring myself to do it.

Always a fan of Williams, though. Nice to see them in the Top 5. Let's make it the Top 4 this year.
