Nixxes description on Sony studio page was changed in March to highlight PC ports

GAS is by far the most popular genre in PC, they will like it.

I'm completely right. PC gamers argue that exclusives are outdated and that every game should appear on every platform, yet they have no issue with Valve keeping its entire catalog exclusive. In fact, PC gamers even boycott games simply for being released on a launcher other than Steam. The double standard speaks for itself.

Where the fuck are you getting this shit from? Please show me evidence that proves that the majority opinion of PC gamers is that every game should should appear on every platform. And then show me the evidence that proves that the same majority opinion of PC gamers also thinks that Valve is an exception.

Keep your fanboy bullshit to yourself. Doubling down on a retarded take doesn't negate the retarded take. It just makes you sound more retarded.

If Sony is moving away from PC ports, then they don't need Nixxes anymore. Probably would be fine selling them off, or turning them independent.

Why? They can port live service games. Anyway, Nixxes can also helpto port 3rd party games which Sony published

Schrierer said this Sony was backing away from PC ports of single player, but not live service. Obviously there has been some realignment internally at PS studios. My guess is whatever ports do happen, Nixxes will be the one handling them so other studios can focus on PS consoles.

"Jason: I mean, I think for them, their strategy is like, live service games are coming to PC. But I think the sense I'm getting is that they're backing away from putting their exclusive console stuff like traditional single-player stuff on PC."
except the live service games are not Ports they are developed for PC along side the ps5 version .

Nixxes did not port Marathon , Helldivers 2 or any other live service games from Sony.

This was posted on twitter, but went and verified myself.

Here is a screenshot from internet archive of the Nixxes section of page from March 6,

More than just the mention of PC ports in the description, because everyone knows that's what Nixxes does and that it will continue with the GAAS, since they worked on Concord, Helldivers 2, and even ported the latter to Xbox. It wouldn't be surprising if they helped with the PC version of Hunters Gathering, for example.

This confirms that, as with Saros, they will now participate in the co-development of games at PlayStation Studios, which wasn't the case before.

This change could be a necessity because if Sony no longer ports its single-player games to PC, it means less work for Nixxes, hence the need to diversify their activities.

And I believe Nixxes also said they were interested in doing other remasters like Horizon.

Literally no one celebrates this. No one would complain if Half-Life or Portal gets a gog release. Most Valve games had even console ports.

The most remotely close to it was when pc native franchises got a new entry with controller and console hardware in mind and the pc version didn't felt like a proper pc version (UI, controls, not taking advantage of latest hardware power, lack of dedicated servers or modding tools, etc). That was all...and a VERY different situation.

The boycott you say is only from a part of PC gamers (not me btw), and that was only because the only good app stores for pc are Steam and gog. The others are VERY lacking in a lot of aspects and made by companies with questionable policies, and I say this because I use them too.

So you're completely wrong. And btw, I think Sony has bigger problems: ridiculous prices, homogeneization of their first party games, obssesion for political correctness, etc. I suppose they will be solved by not porting their games to pc anymore!

Notice how PC gamers never ask Valve to port Counter-Strike, Deadlock, Half Life: Alyx, or Dota to PlayStation, yet Sony is expected to port all its games to PC.
Wut, what kind of reasoning is this? Why would it be PC gamers asking valve to port the games on playstation? It doesn't concern them since they don't play on playstation, I mean, what? :messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_loudly_crying:
If anyone would be asking for a port, it would be the persons concerned, so, playstation gamers.

Also some of the games you mentionned like Dota would be absolutely unplayable with a controller, it's purely designed for mouse and keyboard, requiring tons of different input and constant mouse clicking / movements. I mean, yes, it could in theory be remade for console with different controls, but it would turn into a completely different game with a completely different pacing, making it not Dota 2 anymore.

Been over all this already, but fine.....you tell me what Nixxes is going to work on if PlayStation is backing away from single player PC ports

Not playstation, but there are plenty of users who ask developers of pc-only games to port them to Switch. I suspect the frequency of this occurence to have been one of the reasons why Valve made the Steam Deck

1. I don't personally believe the leaks.

2. To entertain your question, what they have always done, a support studio for others.

Nixxes does not need to "port" something that has been developed for PC along side PS5 for example Horizon Hunters Gather will be developed in parallel for both , ps5 is x86 pc with an APu and custom software.

Nixxes was a support studio for Hellidivers 2 and Concord. Very well could be they were handling the PC port in parallel so that Arrowhead could focus on game design and development. Either way, the new studio description also says "co-developing games" with other PS studios so I think you are right there. I hope so. Would hate to see them closed along with Bluepoint.

Watching the console warriors of Gaf go on this emotional roller coaster has been pretty fun, not gonna lie. A bunch of grown men freaking about who will be able to continue playing with their toys.

There, I hope that explains how it's supposed to work. For any further explanations, I'm always available my dear friends.

Making them explicitly PC-centric just makes it really easy to kill them off in the next couple of years, "change in strategy" etc.

I mean it's not like Sony won't port GAAS games and games like Death Stranding 2.

Jason never said they were abandoning PC entirely just that their first party single player games were moving on from PC.

Ehem 3 years of peanut pc sales.
What does that have to do with Nixxes? They are doing the job they was asked to do, if PC players don't want Sony first party games thats not the fault of Nixxes. So again, I'll repeat the question...
How is Nixxes an annoyance to Sony? Please provide evidence to that fact otherwise you are talking shit

Can't stand the guy myself, but there is no doubting he has deep connections in the industry.
Eeeh, kinda, he or his sources jump to a lot of conclusions though meaning he has to back peddle quite often. There's usually some truth in the things he leaks but sometimes in his rush to be 'first' he many times doesn't get the full story.

Posted in other thread too.... So, why is here discussion about Sony still going for PC with SP games if symbols related to a PC are removed??

If I have one thing to say to Sony, it would be this: By porting your first-party, single-player games to PC, you are poisoning the PlayStation brand. Stop with that shit, don't ever do it again. You learned from your mistakes, don't ever go back to it.

Why is Nintendo's most iconic games and characters so valuable? It's because they will never, ever, ever allow their mainline games to be played on the personal computer. Any console manufacturer who ports their games to the PC, is doing nothing but devaluing their brand. Don't allow your games to be playable on other platforms!

oh, I know another studio that would have been perfect for that... BUT THEY CLOSED IT...

No, there's absolutely nothing preventing it. But it's more likely Sony tries to put Nixxess on development of a new GAAS game than what you described above. 🤷‍♂️

Probably already mentioned but specialised is past tense.

Nixxies specialised in PC ports.

Specialises would have been current tense if they had used that word.

Nixxies specialises in PC ports.

The wording implies that PC ports is what they used to do.

What the hell English are you using? Read the context of the whole sentence.

Netherlands-based studio with engineering teams specialized in high-quality PC ports, and art and design teams co-developing games with PlayStation Studios worldwide.

No. In this case specialized is a past participle used adjectivally, similar to something like "a company specialized in logistics". The usage describes current expertise, not past activity.

I know I have said this before but....

I don't think its dead
Glad I'm not the only sane person in the room.

At the time the news broke from Shrier It sounded iffy.

I think they may have backed off from their PC launcher strategy and rightly so. You don't wade into PC and take on steam you'll lose every time hence cross buy and ps pc logos being removed. I think they will continue ports but on a delayed schedule as in 1 year.

There are several reasons but ultimately there is no business case or model out there that supports them sticking to one platform , releasing ever more expensive single player AAA games on one device and sustaining growth.

It's an adjective describing the team's expertise, not describing something they used to do.
