GTA VI physical edition won't include discs

Any chance they may sell actual disks later down the line? I'm thinking maybe they're trying to avoid leaks and spoilers in the beginning hence the digital only way, maybe after a few months or a year they could sell physical disks.

Most probably that's the case. There's speculations that they will release actual physical copies in December

Hey want to test peoples IQ, check who is going to pre order "digital games".
Not me. Not right now at least. It's not like they're going to run out

As mentioned in one of the other threads, I don't think it'll be December maybe a couple months later. But I do think they will charge extra. Like say $129 for the Ultimate Edition and throw in a Shark Card.

There is a 3rd edition not announced yet. It could have a disc included but I don't know the details of what this edition has yet.

The dozens of physical-only people will wail and gnash their teeth. Then about half of them will give in and buy the game anyway.

As for why even bother having a box in stores? Coverage. People can still go to Best Buy and buy it as a gift, which is a pain on PSN and the like.

85% of the PS5 market is digital; that number isn't going down. This change has been going on for decades now. Physical games, if they exist at all, will be specialty items.

Star Fox Remake beat Gta6 preorder on amazon when I check and posted this lol wonder if it's because of the no disc backlash thing.

Lol, you had to ask AI??? No ask to If Nintendo invented this…
No, I know they did. AI is the first result when I pull it up on Google. Don't act like you don't know how Google search works 🤦‍♂️ I'm not doing the work to prove it to someone who is clearly trying to argue. Look it up yourself.

Lol, Nintendo is basically the only company that has physical sales floating around, and they didn't invented Games Keys Discs…. Do some research at least…

Some retailers decided not to ship GTA VI because its not really a physical release. Its hilarious reading replies from some of these shills.

The sooner physical dies off the better.
GTA not giving a disc is a huge win imo.
The nerds will cry but the world must move on to that all digital future.

The digital future

Bro stfu…I'm not the one that's going to argue for sport. Another Gaf clown for the ignore list.

He's right though. Show me how Nintendo isn't the one company that still sells a lot of physical copies.

Some publisher's putting a code in the box is not Nintendo's fault.

Or, are you saying GTA vi not having a physical disk is Sony and Microsoft's fault. Probably, mainly Sony as they have the marketing rights and are the biggest platform. It's not Take Two or Rockstar fault right?

A lot of people are throwing up their hands in disbelief.

What they probably don't realize is that our own decisions are what led the industry to this state.

If we hadn't embraced digital console gaming from day one, we wouldn't be in this situation.

Physical media was always an option, but laziness got the better of us.

Of course people changed how they buy games, but this is only part of the problem.

Sony/MS and big publishers accelerated this decline by making physical games worse (empty discs), not releasing them at all at launch (BG3, AW2 etc.), releasing physical games with comically low volumes (almost every big game recently was sold out in a day or two, so is demand this strong or they are making low volumes on purpose to drive people into digital versions?), both Sony and MS released digital only consoles this gen and Sony even stripped PS5 Pro from disc drive (but they make them optional for Slim DE and Pro so kudos for that). Now that GTA6 - code in the box is just a cherry on top.

Make physical worse -> more and more people buy digital -> claim that people have chosen digital games -> make physical even worse than before....

Of course he has a palestine flag avatar. Even if I somehow thought that the all-digital future was a good thing, the simple fact that the worst people, who always support all the worst things possible, are supporting it, would make me rethink my stance completely.

Yea, he's right in his point…but so argumentative that he's missing mine. He's arguing something completely different. I'm all for a healthy discussion about it, but the way that poster went about it isn't the way.

I'm saying Nintendo was the first company to start doing it, outside of small companies like Limited Run, and some collectors editions. The first company to sell a "physical version" of the game, that doesn't actually contain the physical game.

And to confirm, I am referring to consoles…not PC.

And to further add, just for clarification, I know PS and Xbox have historically sold discs that only have some of the data…I am strictly talking about physical media that is sold as "physical media" but only contains a download code.

I appreciate you being respectful, Dench. You always have been, as long as I've been around here.

Everyone could save themselves some time and just start eulogizing local processing too. Unless you think that is the bridge too far for some reason.

Find it hard to believe that they won't release a physical disc at some point. Like the CEO said they would?
You have to read the careful wording that Zelnick expressed. He didn't explicitly state it would be a "physical disc". He stated it would have a "physical presence". Those two are not the same thing.

Its corpo double-speak to maintain uninterrupted hype and cover his ass. He knew exactly what he was doing when he made that statement.

If it happens to be that they backpeddle on this decision, then it will only be attributed to mass backlash from the public. Otherwise, don't count on any reversal on this from Zelnick.

I disagree, I think there will be a physical disk version. But a fair amount later and enough of a preminum to scare off Collector Whores.

I admire how you like to believe in the best intentions of these suits that legitimately couldn't care less about you.
