Steam Machine |OT| There Are Dozens of Us. Dozens!

Glad you're enjoying it! LEGO Batman is a blast on it. I'm tempted to pick up Halo tomorrow, as well. It'll be tough to hold out after seeing the OT pick up.

That'll be a fantastic upgrade for everything! Hope it all works out, man!

I'll be upgrading the NVMe in the Machine to 2TB this weekend and will try messing around with emulation :messenger_grinning: I should dial in my router settings to improve streaming, too.

I'm 20 hours into Trails in the Sky. Hoping to make a big dent in that, as well. I'm on Chapter 3 already.
I've never played a Lego game before but I saw this was a bit different than the others and I bought it for my girlfriend so I can play it through family sharing. I like it so far.

I bought Halo on PS5 Pro for the novelty of playing a Halo game on a PlayStation console though.

I was going to replace the drive with my 2nd 1tb from my main PC but I decided to just put it in a cheap enclosure and I plugged it in so now I have 1.5tb

Bought some new switches as well so I'll have 2.5Gbps interlinks between. Sadly the Ethernet port on the Machine isn't 2.5G. Oh well, at least it'll still run full speed if I'm downloading something while streaming a 4K movie on the Shield.

Awesome progress you're making on TitS! After chapter 3 is when things really start heating up. In fact, I'd say chapter 3 is probably the weakest overall of the entire arc.
Oh man, nice upgrade up to 2.5Gbsp! That's going to totally be worth it 🔥

Can't wait to see how it picks up after Ch 3! Just got past a slog section and am glad that it didn't make me tap out lol

I'll definitely see it through, so I can join you guys on 2nd Chapter on day one. It's been such a joy to play on the Machine. It's been running perfectly.

You picked a great one! I plan on playing it more around Halloween. I am a huge Batman fan, so it's hit all the right notes.

Curious to see what you think of Halo on PlayStation. Still so crazy to me! I might do the Game Pass upgrade, but I can also wait a few more days I suppose :)

Good call on the enclosure. 512GB just isn't enough with this unit. I wish it shipped with at least 1TB, but I'm just glad that I have one, so I'm not gonna complain lol

I'll report in on how the SSD upgrade goes. Looks pretty easy, at least.

Yeah the screen screen of death is happening more frequently. I'm in the process of communicating with steam but they gave me this huge list of things to try and it's honestly a little ridiculous so I asked him to please narrow it down to the most definitive options for me to attempt so I can go ahead and get this troubleshooting down to the root. I'm pretty sure it's defective at this point, I booted it up this evening to install Daggerfall unity and just as I finish the installation, not even attempting to run it yet, I got the green screen of death. Very disheartening. I'm just ready for an exchange at this point.

I was actually surprised how far through 512GB has gone. I have 21 games installed right now with like 60 or so GBs free.

Let us know how that upgrade goes!

What exact issue are you having? Sorry if you explained it recently I've been busy and haven't had a chance to keep up on the thread.

I was surprised how quickly Steam Support got back to me (less then 24 hours) when I contacted them about my controller issue I've been having.

Basically I'm getting a random and recurring Green Screen of Death. Doesn't matter if I'm playing a Steamos compatible game, a non steamos compatible game, playing a game at all, using desktop mode, browsing the steam store with no software open, it doesn't matter. Just periodically everything comes to a halt and I get a green screen of death and it just shuts the system down. It's not an infrequent Occurrence at all, there is no time now that when I boot up the machine it doesn't end of that way.

Man, so sorry to hear :messenger_sad_relieved:

I really hope they exchange a unit with you ASAP

Damn, I'm sorry dude. Sounds like a GPU issue to me. Hopefully they get it all taken care of for you. Steam Support is pretty good so I'm sure they will take care of you.

Yeah I think it is a faulty GPU. It did start to bring back memories of when my old GPU died on my desktop some years ago, it was doing similar things.

No Man's Sky is one of my most played games, I play it on PC, PS5 Pro and Switch 2. Lately I've been playing it the most on Switch 2 to kind of desensitize myself since I was expecting it took look worse on Steam Machine than PS5 Pro. Honestly though, trying out different settings, I think I actually have it looking as good, or maybe even better on Steam Machine than PS5 Pro. I'm quite pleased.
