Secret ending found for 1988 arcade game Raimais

Raimais is a great maze chase game by Taito that I've talked up a few times on here over the years. If you aren't familiar with it, Heidi Kemps wrote a fantastic series on it recently at gaming.moe: http://gaming.moe/?p=1794

More recently, thanks to some digging by @suddendesu, a new ending has been found (spoilers duh):

Reminds me of this Easter egg from the Atari 400/800 version of Donkey Kong:

Set a new high score whose ten thousands and thousands digits are 33, 37, 73, or 77, then lose your last life by falling. Afterward, set the game difficulty to 4 by pressing Option three times, then wait through the end of the demo where Donkey Kong jumps across the screen. Upon returning to the title screen, programmer Landon Dyer's initials (LMD) will appear.

Wasn't discovered until 2009.

That's crazy - I actually own the Raimais PCB because of that original write up. Still working on getting the good ending.

Yeah I grabbed the PCB myself a month or so before she did the write-up, it was a surprising coincidence. Had to modify my International version to JP for sure.

Amazing. Makes you wonder how many secrets are still hidden in old obscure arcade games. Now it's pretty much impossible to keep a secret like that, people will just datamine your game and find everything, but back then it was a real secret, with good chances of remaining hidden forever.

Kemps's writeups of Raimais really make me want to spend more time with it. I feel like I've been neglecting a gem all these years.

I love it when stuff like this gets discovered.

Raimais is underrated although I supposed the entire maze chase genre is outside of Pac-Man.

I think it's different enough to not warrant comparison to the pac games, it actually reminds me a lot of my favt SG-1000 game, Pac Car.

Though to be fair, I played youmais way more than raimais, which I have only booted up in MAME a couple times
