Released in 1995, Terranigma is the 3rd game in the Soul Blazer "series", preceded by Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia.

To celebrate its 20th anniversary (which is actually in 3 days, but the race was scheduled on a weekend to accommodate more people), the speedrunning community for the game has organized a huge race (around 20 people if no one has dropped out since I last checked) starting in about 10 minutes. Each runner is streaming their own game but there is a restream with commentary at the RPG Limit Break channel.

He has the Any% and 100% world records for Soul Blazer (both languages!) and Illusion of Gaia (US).
