In all the leaks and rumours about ubisoft i havnt heard anything from the watchdogs franchise , has ubisoft given up on it ?

the 2nd and the 3rd i didnt like because i feel like they went over the top with the colours and silly characters but the 1st one even with the downgrade felt like it had something special , the world had that dark gritty feel to it and the story was mature even though they could have written a better antagonist

i think they should make a new watch dogs in a dark gritty atmospheric world , a crime thriller story , aiden the protagonist chasing a group of people from high society that kidnap women and children for trafficking this was like a side story of the 1st one but its a good plot to expand , add some unexpected twists and u got a good story

I own the first 2 games, i didn't want the 3rd one and haven't played the games for years, so i wouldn't say it's alive and healthy personally.

You never know with Ubisoft. I do wish for a new dark themed Watch Dogs

Them being able to actually pull it off is not something guaranteed
i really hate ubisoft as a company , the higher ups fucking suck but if they really put their minds to it they have the necessary talent to do it , its just that lately they chased a trend that cant die already

All i can say first and 2nd game sold well, around 10m copies, 3rd one bombed tho, which isnt a surprise with amount of purple and socialist/cringe dialoge it had.

Seems to be on ice, but I could totally see them bringing it back someday.

And I agree with you, I have issues with the first Watch Dogs but I liked the overall style and tone. When they went all wacky in the sequel with characters that looked straight out of some bad CW show, I lost all interest.

They had a pretty solid first game they could've built upon but they decided to listen to the "criticism" of the woke press and make the sequel for modern audiences and it just went downhill from there. The 3rd game might as well be propaganda for the UK government.

If Ubisoft had any good writer, Watchdogs would be the modern saga of Assassins Creed and both would be interconnected.

But again, you need good writers to pull that off, with amateurs it's a lost cause.

So much hate for these. I've finished all three, and consider them 'perfect 7' games. Not great, obvious flaws, but there's something compelling about them that keeps me going until the end. Especially the last one which was pretty much a grind from about half way through, and yet I pushed on regardless. Seems like a slam-dunk concept that they just can't actualise into good games.

In order of best to shite:

1.) Watch Dogs 2
2.) Watch Dogs 1
3.) Watch Dogs: Legion

Watch Dogs 2 has a lot going for it. One being it's fun af just messing around with the "hacking" mechanics. It really stands out more so than Legion or even 1. Watch Dogs 1 has the best overall atmopshere though. Would love a Remake of it just to see what Ubi could do there

Hard to say with ubisoft.

I hope its not because the hacking was pretty fun to create chaos, more fun than the tools you usually have in a gta.

First game had some really cool concepts but was ultimately a far cry from the initial reveal trailer.

Never played the 2nd or legion due to the goofy hipster tone they then seemingly decided to chase. Ubisoft were pumping out some shit for a time.

I always liked this franchise, but the third one was quite mediocre, playing with any npc was good on paper but the execution was not great

I hope they come back to the franchise and make some more similar to WD1 and WD2 which are decent games actually

Watch dogs is as dead as Sleeping Dogs...

a franchise that could have been a GTA competitor, turned to woke garbage.

while WD2 plays the best, WD1 is the better of the 3 games, Aiden Pearce got shit for being a white guy in the original but he's actually a more interesting character than the others.

WD1 got quite dark too with human trafficking and other serious crimes. Its a shame we never got to see what that game could have turned into with sequels.

Watch Dogs Legion was just too weird of a concept and felt unfocused.
I think they could bring the series back if they made a direct sequel to the first game.

while I didn't like Legion all that much, it's also hard to hate on Ubisoft for trying new ideas... even if they are somewhat undercooked.

I was thinking in making an LTTP for it, since I'm playing it for the first time after buying it on the Steam Sale

It's a great game. Ubisoft fucked its reputation before it even launched due to the downgrade and E3 graphics bullshit.

Some of the criticism was just bullshit. "Story is too dark, Ayden is too depressed". No shit. It's a revenge story. Gameplay is better than 90% of other open worlds out there, including GTA V.

Due to the criticism, Ubi tried to "fix" the sequel and fucked up everything that made the first game great. Havent played Legion, but the lack of a protagonist is enough for me to know they shat the bed.

This series deserves more. It has incredible potential.

What a shame.

The first game was amazing and one of my favourites of last gen. Never understood the hate for it.

Second game was good but sadly went more GTA-like and had worse gameplay but at the same time, the map and liveliness of it was fantastic.

Don't get me started on Legion. I think a game that bad could kill off any franchise.
