Such revisionist history. He already had Memento, Batman Begins, and The Prestige before 2008. He was already nominated for an oscar for Memento, which put him on the map. The Dark Knight was pretty much the most anticipated movie of 2008 BECAUSE Nolan had made a name for himself by then with Batman Begins pretty much reviving Batman movies.

Now to mention you have it so backwards - to say he got "lucky" with Heath Ledger, when everyone was calling it horrible casting. Ledger was cast because Nolan believed in him when everyone else didn't.

Yup I remember people not being down on Ledger Joker at first before the movie came out

A few decades ago, this could be a parody movie, in the ZAZ or Mel Brooks style. Something dumb and stupid fun.
It's sad and pathetic that a major director is making crap like this.

Really? The practical effects look like the T-1000? And you sure those aren't practical suits of armor?

I know this movie is getting a lot of internet hate before it's even released, but the dog piling of simple photos is getting silly. I completely understand the issue with the casting because of the current hypocrisy it reveals. But I don't understand people whining and moaning that everything doesn't look periodically accurate given how many different takes on this story there is. And those kinds of attempts have already been done. Nolan is not required to make a perfect recreation of the time and text. It's just an adaptation.

Bizarre hysteria and anger around this movie before it's even released. And that's all it is. A movie.
