Came across this video today having heard nothing about this case, and quickly found myself intrigued by the whole thing.
The story is that in 2023 a Belgium backpacker Céline Cremer was on a trip in Tazmania and a few days before having a ferry ticket booked to leave she went on a short hike. She drove to the trail head and hiked to the waterfall, but never returned. After a few days of no contact a search started but turned nothing up. Her car was found where she parked it.
The only evidence that came through was her cell phone had been pinging via GPS and cell which was recorded by the phone company. This was made available and thanks to her using Google maps on her phone, it had an accurate recording for most of her hike. It showed that she got to the destination and instead of walking back she carried on, perhaps thinking that it was a loop circuit. A few hours later with her route going off track her movement signals stop. Her phone for the next few days manages to connect to a cell tower but then turns off.
This is the first video in the series following a local who's determined to find answers by following her GPS trail and sweeping the area for any clues.
I'm currently watching one of the later videos (from about three weeks ago) where a large search party has gathered to do a wider search.
I find these stories so interesting. I remember falling into the rabbit hole of the Kremers and Froon case https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deaths_of_Kris_Kremers_and_Lisanne_Froon
