[Valve] Steam Controller: Reservations open May 8th

Thanks for the pics and the link! Mine should be arriving soon, so I'll definitely have to give SISR a try since I've been playing a lot of Final Fantasy XI with a controller lately.
No problem, and I'll give you a better SISR link, since that one provides the installation instructions which let you copy/paste a command into powershell/command prompt to just batch install everything (drivers, the app, etc.)

You'll want to open up SISR once for it to set itself up with Steam, where it will restart it, and ask for permission to do some diagnostic thing so it can generate the SISR Steam Input profile. Otherwise you'll need to keep the Steam open in the background so Steam Input is on, and SISR as well for it to work. You can click the SISR tray icon to turn the Steam Overlay on while in those games, and you'll see the option to open up the Steam Input profile SISR has to do custom controls.

Steam is now telling you how long your estimated wait is if you have a reservation on the controller.

Unfortunately for a lot of people, this estimate is showing up as December 2026 and many showing up at 2027.

Mine was shipped on Monday and my wife tells me it was delivered today, I can't wait to get home and try it after work.

Mine says 2027…

Glad I just grabbed one on eBay a month ago. It's been a gamechanger not needing a kbm anymore, a true console like experience.

Damn mine says December 2026. I just checked eBay out of curiosity and they are going for $250. Not worth it - will just stick with Elite Series 2 until then (and pray the bumpers don't give out, again).

Could not for the life of me get SISR to work. Tried running it as admin, restarted several times, tried Steam regular and beta, nothing worked. The app loaded but it kept crashing and would just reload Steam constantly. I installed SteamlessController and it worked right away.

Played some Final Fantasy XI using the standard XInput controller layout, and it worked great. The controller feels amazing.

Huh, weird. It was a pretty easy setup for me. Only thing I could think of is if it conflicts with some other input mapping software on your PC, or if you're on Steam's beta client (I'm on stable)...otherwise 🤷‍♂️

Glad you found a solution though.

Why would you return it, you can resale and make a pretty decent profit. Even if you're ethically against that you can definitely resale for the list price plus shipping

Dude, I was hesitant on it and it's my favorite controller of all time.

I'm super happy with it, but others have returned it lol
This controller feels like it was made for people (like me) with big hands, and I love that about it. It's slightly larger and bulkier than the dualsense controller but about the same weight in the hands. Just feels really premium, I can tell already I'm gonna be rocking this thing for a long time.

Same here! Great fit and weight to it.

The haptics are pretty satisfying, too. I've been waking up my Windows PC from sleep with it and finally have a "console-like" PC experience from the couch.

It's one of the reasons why I'm making more progress in games lately. Convenience and ease of use really does go a long way with gaming.

I have the smallest infant child hands, and I don't find it too uncomfortable to hold. Maybe a bit of a stretch around the hands, but we'll see.

One thing I did, which I found made navigating just way more convenient for me was remapping the back buttons on one side to scroll up & scroll down (with turbo for scroll while holding), and the back buttons on the other to R-click + L-click. I found it let me grip the controller more naturally, since I didn't have to shift my grip to reach the trigger, or take my finger off either the paddle or trackpad to tap a button.

I also only just got mine like three hours ago, so these are very early impressions.

I'm finding the joysticks control mouse natively way, way more seamlessly than other controllers. I think it's the way they detect fine movement.

I'm still trying to solve the puzzle of the trackpads. The closest way that I can think to mirror mouse movement on them is to like, hold the controller in one hand and then use my index finger directly on the pad. When I try just thumbing it, I feel like I'm running out of runway a "flick" lets me take the cursor from one side of the screen to the other, but I lose the fine point dexterity. Conversely, if I don't flick, my cursor only clears half the screen before I have to lift my thumb and reposition.
