Visual Arts Shares Special 25th Anniversary Video Celebrating Key; Special Livestream Scheduled for Anemoi Later This Month

Visual Arts is celebrating Key’s 25th anniversary with the release of a special video highlighting the developer’s titles. It’s definitely a nostalgic punch to the stomach, as the highlight really showcases some of the most timeless visual novels in the industry.

Throughout June 2024, the company plans to reveal more news about its upcoming titles, Anemoi, and also provide special updates about future projects. The publisher will host a special livestream on Friday, June 14, 19:00-20:30 (JST) titled Key Channel Key 25th Anniversary & “Anemoi” Special.
Featuring:
  • Tōya Okano
  • Sakai
  • Shun Sayuki
  • Shinji Orito
  • Natsu Otoko
Kanon, the developer’s first title, was released in June 1999 in Japan. Incidentally, we are still talking about this game today as it was announced that the PC and Switch versions will receive an English text update.

One important thing about the celebration is the promise that Key will continue to develop games in the future. This is important given the often instability of the industry, especially when working within niche genres.
Kanon tells the story of Yuichi Aizawa, a young man who stays with his aunt after his parents move overseas. Seven years have passed since he was last in this town, and his memories of then are fuzzy.

On the day he moves, a young girl called Ayu Tsukimiya bumps into him. Later, he will get to know other girls who’ll become important in his life, including his cousin, Nayuki Minase, who studies in the same class as him.
