I'm in Japan right now. I've been to a few used game shops here, and there is no shortage of classic retro games and game systems to buy. Where I'm at, these shops aren't filled with weeabos: I'm the only gaijin around typically.
The games are cheap (I've bought a few Switch games for my personal collection), and I've not had any shopkeepers get mad at me for buying stuff. This seems like a total non-problem.
