It was a little over five more months. Launched in Nov. Price cut in April after a very sluggish launch in Europe.
It launched in March in Australia which I should've mentioned.

Nah, you have to remember that basically every PS4 shipped is sold. Even if its a small number it is basically the max possible. That's really bad number, no?

Sold through = to consumers, right?
Pretty much, they are talking about sold through numbers and not shipped to retailers.http://www.prnewswire.com/news-rele...ial-interaction-through-gaming-248315741.html

Too soon to say. There was a lot of pent up hardcore demand....
tablets.
Wow.
Well, I got my PS4 y'day as well in anticipation of infamous. I have to say, PS4 has no games. Resogun is nice, but otherwise it is a barren wasteland. Strange that so many million ppl are buying.
I just hope that console sales won't flatline after all the enthusiasts have gotten their unit.

Pretty amazing pace so far, 6 million before March is unprecedented for units even produced, let alone sold.
I'm glad the one company that tried their hardest to make gaming hardware is being rewarded with success.
What.Enthusiasts haven't even bought one yet, they're all acting nonchalant on forums waiting until the PS4 has the "must-have" game. It's the general public that are going mad for the PS4 that's why attachment rates aren't as high as the One which has the enthusiasts.
I'm just saying it's way too soon. Like you said- 4 months. Way too soon to understand the trajectory of these boxes.Yeah, 6 million in 4 months with like no games then they're going to fall off a cliff.
That doesn't seem ludicrous at all.
On my phone so I can't go into details but I do know it's currently outpacing the PS2 in sales.Historical context?
Seems like MS and Nintendo are the only Console manufactures who took the "tablets hit".
Playstation is doing fine.
Release a powerful console with no gimmicks at a reasonable price and it sells. Who would have thought?
Very doubtful that it's in order. Ghosts is almost certainly the best selling game. I remember Activision mentioning that it was the best selling PS4 game at all major retailers in the US. And FIFA is usually the only game that's charting above it in Europe.

Pretty sure it's sony's fastest selling home console so far.
What.
That's crazy.
Most people buy third party software. The only slowdown will be the typical one for summer and then the Destiny bump happens leading into the holiday season.I'm just saying it's way too soon. Like you said- 4 months. Way too soon to understand the trajectory of these boxes.
I couldn't disagree more. The reason it is sold out is because it appeals to a market broader than enthusiasts, ironically "enthusiasts" are the ones picky about games and are waiting for unique titles whereas more casual players are buying it with a copy of BF/COD/FIFA/Madden.
Conversely, Xbox One has had a hardcore go out and purchase it specifically for MS titles, leading to higher first party sales than third party compared to PS4, and a drop off in sales post-christmas.
If PS4 outsells the Xbone during Titanfall's launch month, the blackboard will be needing a dust off.Really want to know what xbone is at . What was the last figure, 3.2 million? Guessing we won't hear from MS until after March when xbone will likely outsell ps4 for the month.
I couldn't disagree more.
Also- that's straight up speculation.

As of December 31, 2013, Wii U was sitting at 5.86 million shipped. Shipped.
These PS4 numbers are sold, right?
Well get a better picture 2-3 years out. Too soon to say, not even really disagreeing with you. Most people buy third party software. The only slowdown will be the typical one for summer and then the Destiny bump happens leading into the holiday season.
6 million units sold as of March 2nd. This includes 370k units sold in Japan.
