You all just don't understand. It's a shame. Titanfall is going to slowly build that momentum. It's the next Call of Duty which means it has inevitable lifetime sales of around 20 million. And seeing as Xbox One is the only place to play it (lol at PC like anyone gives a shit), this means Xbox One is guaranteed around 30 million sales (2 out of 3 Xbox One owners with Titanfall is a high possibility). Same can't be said for PS4. It has no games, let alone any game. This is why such a game is so important.

lmao game recognize game

and I guess PS4 looking a little unfamiliar right now

Had they launched just two or three years earlier, they could have.

Very true, but they didn't. The point is what they had at the time despite being pretty amazing, wasn't going to do it.

(this next part is not in response to you, it's just in general)
MS is not "out for the count" here with Xbox, will they beat PS4 in sales? No and I think everyone knows that even MS, but that doesn't mean they can't make an amazing system, profitable system with a great lineup. They don't have to be #1 in sales to have a great pofitable system. Hell right now they are trackign well above 360, if that keeps up then that's great for them.

The power difference is the one thing they can't do anything about, so it's not all that useful to discuss it, really. I personally do not see it as a real problem, and I certainly don't see it as their biggest problem (and, again, it's unchangeable, so it's still just wasted breath).

Price is problem one, and Kinect is the major obstacle. Drop it. If then the paywall on certain entertainment apps is problematic, make an adjustment there, as well. But that's a secondary problem, and it's addressable. I don't think the deal with indies is even the smallest blip on the radar.

Start at the top of the list, and the top of the list is price. Work on things that can be fixed.

Just because you can't change something doesn't mean it stops being useful to point it out as remaining an issue, since it's a big hurdle. Further, of course it's a consideration for people, even if it's not THE biggest problem (because just because you fix one problem doesn't mean another won't hold it back). Let's say you have two systems that are the same price. One system is widely known by everyone now to be considerably more powerful; the hardcore gamers have already filtered out and told their friends and family. It has the best versions of Call of Duty, of Battlefield, of Assassin's Creed. It is going to have MLB soon, it will have the best version of Destiny and with exclusive content. Every multiplatform game is superior on the system. And you pay less for the pleasure! We may argue about how much of a consideration it may be, but it is undeniably something consumers look at. People always talk about PS2 and how the most powerful system didn't win, but the fact is one of Sony's biggest victories with the system was convincing people it WAS massively powerful. Their marketing emphasized it, their PR nonsense emphasized it (Saddam Hussein is collecting PS2's, what for!? To build a supercomputer! Enter the Matrix! Toy Story graphics!). Its perceived power, and consumers desire for it, was indeed a big consideration in its success. It wasn't just that, but it was part of a combined group of features consumers liked, such as DVD as well.

In this post, you're very busy with ranking the problems as if that matters. A problem remains a problem whether they can fix it or not. If they reduce the price to match PS4, all they're doing is inviting consumers to now compare what they're getting at that price range. Yes, they will gain additional sales, but that's not the only consideration. Internally, it is well known that the patience for continued losses in the gaming division is wearing thin. They want a system that is profitable and contributes something meaningful back to the companies ecosystem. If they have to aggressively cut the price to even compete a little bit better (and the benefit at the end of the day might still be selling considerably less than PS4), then you drastically cut your potential profit, if not starting to incur great losses. Just because Microsoft has seemingly unlimited funds does not mean they are willing to continue to use them. So, strategically, we may say a price may help a bit, but will they drop Kinect to hit the point? Will it ultimately matter if they still cannot surpass PS4 or come close at that price?

My point is this. Everything must be addressed, because the system does not exist in a vacuum. If it drops price, it still must find a way to offer the value in other areas that overcome the other advantages PS4 has. So even though the power is "unchangeable", you must therefore find something to offer with your system to compensate for that fact. That's solving the problem with a substitution, which is the only option they have.

They need to invent a time machine to go back and redesign the hardware and not try to force always online and kill used games.

Short of that, they are fucked no matter what Nelson thinks he knows.

Agreed 100%. They lost me when they decided to screw the people who had been loyal to them for years because of their greed/vision. I'm happy with my PS4 and will continue to support Sony unless they pull a 180.

I think Microsoft is in trouble now.

Sony has MLB14 coming up for the Ps4.
They have exclusive marketing for Watchdogs.
They have The Last Of Us Remastered coming up.
They have DriveClub coming up.
They have exclusive marketing for Destiny.
They have The Order 1886 coming up.
They have Planetside2 coming up.

Microsoft has basically nothing until SunsetOverdrive, Halo2 Anniversary or Forza Horizon2 hit.

Microsofts really needs to knock it out of the park at E3.
By that I mean not only games wise. They need to show something amazing like Illumiroom or a VR/AR solution.
They need to drop the price below Ps4.
And they need to show a of amazing exclusives.

and just like Arham Origins and Black Flag, Sony's probably going to have exclusive content with Arkham Knight and AC Unity.

It definitely sold systems, the question is how many. The Xbone is really unattractive hardware and people would rather get TF for PC or 360.

Saying the game itself underperformed is pretty early until we get the numbers for the bundles/Xbone/PC as well as the 360. It beat out an established quality franchise release.

Well according to february and march NPD: jack squad.

I feel like I haven't seen you post in awhile.

Do we have an actual number of how many Xbones have been sold through to consumers? I'm just wondering if the gap is closer to 3 million...

No actual Number but some speculation in the XB1 5 million shipped thread puts XB1 WW LTD sell-through at 3.9-4.3m, On Dec 31st, there were 3 million sold and 3.9million shipped, so we have vague ideas but no solid sales numbers other than NPD.

This is gonna be a long generation for Microsoft.

I'm really interested to see how Titanfall did only on the xbone with no PC numbers. Would be interesting if Second Son outsold it in that scenario.

As others have said many times, PC retail for Titanfall was probably really low. There are well established multiplat series that are relatively popular on PC that still have very little impact on NPDs.

Saint Titanfall
Final Hours of Titanfall reveals that the game would have been cancelled without MS's direct funding. It doesn't quite go into the surprise lifetime exclusivity, but MS really had that game by the balls, and rightly so, considering how much they invested in it.

I think EA is happy with how things turned out. They have a successful new IP, instead of a failed studio and a cancelled game with potential.

I'm wondering how much EA actually invested into the project because it seems like they weaselled themselves an outstanding deal. Didn't pay the significant amounts of money needed to finish the product, sold lifetime exclusivity to MS (likely for a pretty penny) share a significant portion of the games revenue.

EA milked that title dry, I'm sure they're patting themselves on the back right now. Publisher of the year.

I'm interested to see whether Sony will have more success moving systems when it starts (really) advertising its early Destiny beta access, than MS did advertising Titanfall exclusivity.

(I'm assuming there will more PS4 availability then, but who the hell knows. I sure didn't expect 7 million sold by March)

How low do you want the Kinect-less SKU to be? Honestly if you think you are going to get a $349 standalone X1, then you are going to be in for a rough time.

I don't think it needs to be $349. It needs to be $399. I don't see power difference as a major problem, it's OK for yall to disagree, I don't mind. I just don't think average consumer actually cares to the degree that people around here do.

And again, nowhere am I suggesting that it can win. I think Sony has recaptured a good bit of their lost momentum from the PS2 days. I simply think Microsoft needs to be at parity just to near the same zip code, that's all.

Wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo just outright went the Sony path and stopped with the PR statements.

Its probably just getting sad at this point, just to find some positive news.

Well according to february and march NPD: jack squad.

People were buying the system at release for TF. Also TF is now bundled with Xbone everywhere going forward. It definitely didn't have a huge effect but that can be more easily attached to how toxic the Xbone is, rather than anything to do with TF.

I got grudge sucked!
I don't know how many copies FFX/X-2 HD sold but I hope its enough for SE to greenlight the HD version of FFXII for PS3/Vita/whatever

I'm both impressed and sickened by this realization.

They're trying to sober Iwata up to make the statement.

No, I'm not saying he has a drinking problem. I'm saying he hit the bottle because the numbers are bad. If they are.

lol If they could get Iwata to start drinking, Nintendo would have more games aimed at the Teen/College Demographic.

What's the highest selling game currently on Xbox one? It says Titan fall is the second best selling on the platform so that should give some idea what numbers it moved.

Is this Verendus original or parody of something?

What proof do you have? Sold a million in 9 days. Was always the first first AAA game for PS4 like TF was for X1. And came in at number 2 on the NPD with no bundle and a later launch release.
Were there ISS trailers in movie theaters, like there were for Titanfall? If not, I don't think you can make your claim in good conscience

I think i needed to be more clear. When i said inFamous had a lot of hype comparable to TF, It was because it is the first big AAA title for PS4. I get TF probably had more "media" hype but that's nothing if it doesn't translate to amazingly bigger sales. So unless TF completely trounced inFamous i don't get how TF had more hype. In fact until we see some numbers it's clear TF was over hyped. And i'm NOT talking about the quality of the games. Just strictly sales.
