Most mobile games are like this. Nothing new.

There are approximately 9001 Flappy Birds and 2048 games (all of which are complete rip-offs of the original) on any given mobile store so I'm not surprised by anything anymore. Mobile gaming is a mess.

I'm by no means trying to make a drive-by post, but seeing stuff like this rampant with mobile (and browser) games is a huge chunk of why I just write off the entire platform completely. It's an appalling clusterfuck. IMHO the entire platform is in drastic and severe need of thorough cleaning-up before it's anywhere near being considered a viable option.

Viable option for who?

And plenty of mobile games look as good as that, if not better

No they dont. Games that look as good as infinity blade are the exception, not the rule. And you know its true.

When you see a game with those visuals its much more likely to not be a mobile game.

you can't put a price on sparks
is it not everything they describe and more? what does it matter if they post an unrelated picture there? is that girl in the logo even in the game?

Is that so.

Viable option for who?

Core gamers that don't wanna be shafted, or sift through seemingly endless piles upon piles of shovelware designed to swindle users until they find something genuinely decent. Also, gaming companies that wanna be looked upon favorably. I know it's gonna come across elitist, but sorry considering the state of the platform, part of me can't help but think less of companies that focus or dabble heavily in mobile games.

The point was that the image of DS would be believable if you didn't know DS because we've seen enough games that look good enough on mobile to show us that it's possible.

I said there are plenty, not that they are the majority. Off the top of my head I could say Real Racing 3, Horn, The Room, Riptide2, NOVA3. These are old games too, when I used to follow mobile gaming more. I'm sure there are MANY more better looking games around now.

Actually, doing a Google image search for "best ipad game graphics" will give you an idea of the current standard of mobile game graphics.

Yes, it's illegal and yes, they don't give a damn. If Google/Apple forces them to change it they'll just plagiarize something else. Mobile market is a mess.

Is this an Assassin's Creed fanart? because now I want this assassin in the new AC lol

No, that would give me an idea of the best looking mobile games on the market. That would not... absolutely would not give me the Standard for mobile graphics.

The standard, median or whatever you want to call it is nowhere near any of those games listed. Those are the cream of the crop, and the only reason we cannot name any recent titles is because games of that visual quality is so rare to begin with on mobile. Generally when a mobile title gets that much effort put into it, we hear about it, because sites everywhere won't shut up about them.

Its like the Wii fans were when something like Conduit came along.

It's not legal. It's a copyright infringement, a possible trademark infringement and a violation of the FTC's false advertising laws.

The problem is, Facebook doesn't allow third parties to report trademark or copyright violations. The FTC is tasked with enforcing their own laws. Consumers can't really do anything besides bring it to the attention of those who are charged with enforcing their IP or laws.

It's really a ridiculously flagrant violation! I'm kind of amazed.

Lol, I'm dying laughing at this thread. I wasn't prone to plagiarism in Chinese games. I remember the following:

- A chinese game with Iron Man costume.
- Some strategy webgame featuring a plagiarized Kratos.
- Game321 using fanart without permission from original artists and renders of Pirate Warriors in their games (Yes, I did play Pockie Ninja/Pirates).
- Any Clash of Clans-type game.
- Some cheap Russian F2P Minecraft clones on Steam Greenlight (Not counting Brick-Force because it was developed in Korea).
- Pockie Knights rips off Final Fantasy's famous victory fanfare.

I think there is a lot more than these.

Infinity Blade 3 looks amazing, but I wonder how it will destroy your iOS devices batterylife. 20 minute playtime?

I imagine if Infinity Blade tried to pull off even half the stuff Dark Souls (or any 3D action game) does, it would not look so nice (and probably animate even worse).

Is it easy to sue these companies?

Its nothing unusual really. There's misleading advertising, and then there's people who outright steal others work too. From people putting up roms of old games, the shit zynga used to pull constantly, and people taking other people's/company's IP and slapping it on an doodle jump clone. Its the wild west when there's no gate keepers involved.

No kidding, IB looks as good as it does thanks to restricted environments and no ability to free roam, period. Not trying to attack it, the IB series is actually just about the only game I enjoy on my phone. But no way if say, IB4, played like Souls it would look as good as IB3 and have good performance.

To the topic, I can't believe they just blatantly ripped console RPG screens for their game on the Google Play store. I would expect this kind of thing of in browser point and click games, but not there.

That's also a blatant bullshot of IB

There have been games that don't even work released on mobile. I remember Pokemon yellow was that way on ios. I don't think there's any quality control on mobile.

This is the biggest display of stolen assets since Limbo of the Lost.

An old friend of mine, who's been playing in different bands since the early 90's, worked on the music for the game, and wasn't really fond of getting his name attached to the controversy of copied in-game assets he knew nothing about.

Here's his interview regarding the matter.

http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2008/06/column_quiz_me_qwik_and_the_orchestra_played_on.php
GSW: What are you concerns regarding your reputation, from this point?

MH: After my initial announcement and press release got out, it seems people understand my situation and are being very supportive. I'm still undecided about whether it's better to keep Limbo of the Lost in my CV or just forget about it.

Anyone Googling my name will find plenty of mentions about Limbo so I couldn't just pretend it never happened, even if I wanted to. On the other hand, I don't think I have any reason to feel bad about the music I composed for the game. How all this will affect my career in the future is very hard to predict, so as a precautionary measure I'm taking steps to clear my name.

What will actually happen and what kind of effect this will have in the long run remains to be seen.

...

GSW: What proof are you able to offer that your work is 100% original?

MH: I have all the original Cubase project files. When I work I save my project often under different name. This way, the files not only show the contents of the music files but also the whole composing process from beginning to end. That's something that would be extremely hard to replicate afterwards.

Also, I posted some of the pieces I made for the game on my demo page, so you can make comparisons yourself. Furthermore, I think there's a very big difference in the style and sound of the music pieces I did versus the ones I didn't do. Again, I'm assuming that the rest of the pieces were written by Lawrence Francis. Majestic Studios project leader Steve Bovis has also assured me that there isn't any stolen music in the game.

I've seen them use screenshots from Skyrim, CS 1.6, CS:S, and even Crysis! Anything to get some downloads (Clicks in the case of ads for "free online games" for PC). Disgusting.

But yeah, how is this allowed to happen?

Serious question. Wouldn't it be better to try and get in touch with the Bamco (or From) legal team as I'd imagine they have more sway in stopping Dark souls screenshots being used. I'd imagine they would shrug their shoulder but they could also salivate over no-name developer defamating our IP.
