Watch Playstation's E3 conference in movie theaters

I signed up for two tickets at the NYC Union Square one but I'm having to think real hard about whether I'm okay with sitting in a room with a ton of hooting and hollering nerds just for the chance of getting some free shit.

You know I kinda was torn because last year being on GAF during Sony's press conference was great, but GAF also crashed for a couple hours so I guess I will take my chances.

I'm just daydreaming but;

Hows this, every seat in one of those cinemas will have a dualshock underneath and the Destiny beta will go live.

Or

One lucky gamer gets to do the gameplay demo for Uncharted, live from the cinema.

No gameplay from us on this front. That I know for sure. We're just watching the thing, and if I had to guess, filming us for reactions.

I don't own a ps4 yet but I scooped up a pair of tickets for my biggest sony fan and I to see it in chicago. Hopefully they have some neat sony swag to give away.

I wonder if camera's are recording audience reaction in these theaters for developer feedback. After its all said and done, we may have some footage of crowds going wild in theaters across North America if certain megatons are dropped.

It's intriguing to me how Sony is using the E3 live conference in a bigger way than ever before, truly capitalizing on the importance of this event to build as much interest and viewership as possible for the event. While on the other hand, Nintendo has been trying to negate the importance of the E3 live conference by giving their fans a pre-recorded stream for the second year straight.

It's just interesting how even just a few years ago, the 3 big players were roughly on equal footing when it came to E3 press conferences, now you have 2 companies taking totally different approaches to delivering their E3 press conference. Then you have Microsoft seems to remain stagnant on increasing/decreasing the scale of their conference. I can't wait!

June 9th is gonna be awesome! Go to work, eat some good food after work, watch Sony's PC at my theatre, and then go home and setup my newly delivered Kinect less Xbox One (I already own a PS4)!

Somebody is going to have a meltdown in one of these theaters. Some game like Kingdom Hearts or something will be unveiled or played live and there will be footage from a theater of somebody losing their fucking mind. Or just sobbing uncontrollably. I just know it.

I sincerely hope they are filming us. The footage will provide GIFs for the ages!

Stop ruining my daydream!

On topic, I think this is a marvelous idea. Getting cinemas full of likeminded people who are there because they want to enjoy the experience, who will then go forth and share that online, at work, where ever. Its a really good idea and broadens the scope of the conference. Though it better be good otherwise the fallout could go the opposite way.

Cmon Sony, do something special.

It says on the page:

"And hey, if you show up, we might even cough up a few surprise gifts."

Event details on the website.

Edit: beaten
Edit 2: mine doesn't say "might" though. It says: "Attendes will go home with a commemorative PlayStation collectible and a surprise gift!"

How nice of me to miss that lol. Also, see some of insider GAF hyping the gifts up.

NOPE, WILL NOT FALL FOR IT.

NONSENSE! Raise those expectations up to free $50 PSN card levels like the rest of us!!!!!
We GAF together, we laugh together, we dissapoint together.

I am making a dehype list as we speak, I may even pass them around at the event.

That way the Megatons have double impact.

I was thinking the same thing and it looks people are really digging this initiative in US so you bet SCEE would want to do the same for EU PS gamers
But Gamescom conference is not so important. I bet even most gamers don't know the expo exists in the first place

I got a few tickets but I'm not sure I want to deal with the trouble of driving to the city and finding a place to park/taking BART
I see. It's easiest to take BART depending where you are coming from. Parking lot in front of Bloomingdales is cheap during those hours. Wasn't this the area used during ps3 launch party ? It soldout so I'm not going, was wondering how many gaffers are going. :). Keep me posted, about how it was if you do go

Considering that I remain undecided about purchasing a Playstation 4 unit, & I always wanted to experience what it would be like to go to one of these trade shows, I've booked my ticket.

Well they got one open here in SLC. Rather stay home but that would be an interesting experience.

Edit: Holy shit and already sold out.
