The only ones proven wrong are those who thought the leak batch were the only newcomers. I don't like it, but Romano is still very much reliable if only because his info is old and lacking.

I'm just happy we still have surprises in the roster.

Found this on Gamefaqs: Sal's response to no Chrom

As I'm sure most of ya know, the leaker e-mailed me last night teasing Shulk.

He also e-mailed me again this morning saying Nintendo keeps a lot secret from Bandai Namco, and that Sakurai may change his mind as he does all the time, but that Shulk was 100%.

A quote: "I only know what has been done, not what or when they will be made available. Sakurai may change his mind, and he does all the time. Shulk will not be changed."

I've e-mailed him about the lack of Shulk, as well as the whole Chrom being a Final Smash thing. I'll update if I get a response.

Still finding it hard to believe. 8 for 11 is no easy task. I wonder what he has to say.

I honestly believed the leak before this, but now there's so much more possibility. Hell, it wasn't entirely wrong, but it certainly wasn't right in this case. Still hoping for Shulk though.

I'm counting 36 on the main site,

Including veterans we haven't seen yet:

Ganondorf
Ice Climbers
ROB
Metaknight
Falco
Wolf
Jiggs
Lucas
G&W

That puts us at 46, 47 if you want to throw snake in there.

Basically, do you think we'll get 3 or 4 more characters in the next 2 months? Or do you think we'll have some post launch newcomers ala Wolf in Brawl?

Even in SmashGAF, there were a LOT of people who came out of the woodwork saying that the only people left are those explicitly mentioned by the Gematsu leak. I for one am extremely happy that it wasn't Shulk today and instead this wonderful group of people just to completely shut that notion down. It ain't over 'til it's over!

In other news, if Lucina takes up her own character screen, and Lucas, Snake, and the Pokemon are cut, adding in a Rhythm Heaven character, Shulk, and the rest of Brawl's veterans gives us a perfect 48 character roster, plus the random spot, which fits perfectly in both select screens.

If Miis are selected in some weird way where they don't have a space, that leaves room for one more (Snake? Lucas? Dark Pit?)

Minds have been absolutely blown. NINTENDO IS DELIBERATELY BUGGERING WITH PEOPLE'S EXPECTATIONS NOW! The doors of opportunity that we thought had been slammed shut have suddenly been wrenched open! I don't even care if my specific wants make it in anymore, just the subversion of an assumed pattern is a-ok by me.

Clones confirmed, huh? Dark Pit? Alph? Something else? Shulk and Chorus Men still seem more likely than not, but at least Robin looks pretty awesome. I cried for Chrom! That was so sad... And omahgersh the Captain's back and quite possibly the most visually appealing character so far. God willing, he might even have been buffed!

WE GOT FUCKING TROLLED! If you'll excuse me, it's super late and I think I need to pass out now.

Also the move she uses against c-falcon in the prerendered part looks a lot like Marths neutral B.

Personally, I feel the added commentary on the 3rd leak was just the leaker trying to give some info since the leaker has no more. So basically, I'm saying the DLC comment, and Lucas comment may have been made up just for the sake of having something new.

The leaker didn't tell us any character was going to be revealed during directs and Smash related events, so it is really odd the leaker decided to say yesterday we will be seeing Shulk today (after everyone who follows Smash closely would guess Shulk is today).

I feel like the guy has no info outside of everything he/she posted before the Smash Direct.

Great, post, and I think this is the logical conclusion as well. Leakers love attention, and that is why they leak. They want the eyes on them instead of the game, and they want to be discussed. Based on the incredible predictive accuracy of the initial leak list, I think that the leaker saw an early roster list.

Since then, some things may have changed. However, the leaker has still been trying to find small ways to get attention, like the Shulk and Lucas claims. When you look at the game as-is, it actually seems a bit silly that Lucas would get cut when we are getting so many models everywhere else. This also means that the DLC claim is likely made up, though DLC is a possibility still.

However, the most important point in all of this is this: there are almost definitely more newcomers than are on the leak list. Ridley confirmed. ;)

To be honest, that is what we should all be happy about. People were at least willing to concede that Sal may not have had all the newcomers until E3 rolled around and people started putting a cap on the roster.

I'm glad that they made the right aesthetic and gender choice for the huge female Fire Emblem fanbase with Lucina for the third rep... and threw in Robin for good measure! Now I need a paper bag to breathe because Lucina is in and I all I asked for was a Marth alt.

That Chrom trolling though... LOL

Oh well. I did say that I would start caring about playing Marth if she was an alt for him...
