I know that controls will be customizable in the final version but does anyone know if you can use the D-pad for movement? I'm really not enjoying the circle pad with this game. Feels far more inaccurate than a regular joystick.

Been watching the VGBootcamp stream.

Rosalina's luma looks like it could become a real problem in the hands of an experienced player.

Yo why do Rosalina and Palutena disappear when they dash? Like, they just disappear. It doesn't even look like a polished teleport move, nope. It looks like they are just glitching out.

I can understand Palutena being a goddess can disappear and stuff. But why Rosalina?

Anyone found a decent use for leaf shield yet?

I know that crash bomber can be latched onto walls so it can be an okay edgeguarding tool. Metal blade moves in 8 directions so there's probably some sort of use for it, but leaf shield seems largely useless. The damage is really really low, and it hardly blocks any attacks when I use it.

Does it cancel out every attack when thrown or something? Is it just a really weak, extremely high-priority move?

Nah, it just sucks. The closest I've gotten to possibly finding utility for it is possibly for edgeguarding from above, but it's not very effective and he has better options.

This time I'm doing fox only, final destination, no items. I actually like his playstyle in this game other than the fact that his laser seems nerfed and his reflector is no longer cancellable so it's pretty useless, but he has a few customs that are fun, especially his recovery. His normals also feel pretty good generally, so I may pick him up soon.
Oh wow, that Barrel Roll Up-B and Fox Explosion both sound really interesting. Thanks for doing these! They've convinced more than ever that the competitive scene really needs to give these a chance.

God, I hope ganondorf isn't shit tier again, because i'm really liking him so far. He's way stronger and has some decent 2-hit combos that have tons of knockback/damage.

This move was a missed opportunity to use effects similar to an Arwing charge shot, but oh well.

In this variation, Fox charges his blast for half a second and shoots a larger projectiles that does 10-11% damage and does large hitstun and decent knockback for what it is, killing Samus off the side of Battlefield at ~170%.

I think this move is straight up better than his default blaster, the default blaster is risky due to the lack of hitstun and high endlag, this move feels like it'll be much better in most situations, it also makes a cooler sound effect!

I have been wanting this since I watched that death battle with "Fox vs. Bucky O'Hare".
 
I would argue Bowser Jr. + Duck Hunt Dog are evil.
With this, I want to get into a little debate with myself about DH.

We all assume he is a villain, but in Smash 4 he and a single duck work together. So how does this explain the NES DH game.

Let's take a look at his final smash.

He laughs at Wild Gunmen then gets out've the way and the Wild Gunmen are shooting at him, but his dodges means that the WIld Gunmen hit the opponets. Nothing too villanous about that but the ducks are also flying about meaning there is a chance that the gunmen could kill the ducks. But he and that single duck on his back work together so its just really confusing.

In the NES game he laughs when you miss the ducks, taunting you. He brings up dead ducks when you win which indicates that he is a villain.

But why is atleast the duck on his back working with him if the dog wants to kill the ducks? Did just that one duck turn into a villain aswell and turn against other ducks?

What in the almighty fuck is with this canon. It makes no fucking sense. And there HAS to be a canon too it. It can't just be "random smash stuff" I refuse that explanation!

Well I can pretty much confirm that you can unlock characters by simply doing a regular vs match against bots and quit immediately after match starts and challengers appear. Thus making it easiest way to unlock characters.

Zero was doing well with him online last night.

I'd like to see how others are playing him, because I know I suck as him. Replay channel is pretty neat because you can tell it 'hey, show me 1v1 matches involving ganondorf' which is a cool way to try and learn a character.

Anyone with the demo getting a rindokulous amount of legendary Pokemon?

I just got (what I think was) an Arceus and now in the same match I threw (what I think is) Palkia and it hasn't even been Master balls. The last match I threw an Entei though it was from a Masterball.

My guess is that the Dog and the Ducks are in cahoots.

The ducks drop after getting shot, the dog catches them, shows them to the hunter, brings them back in the grass and revives them (video game lives), and then releases them. That would explain why there's so many ducks in the grass.

You can throw Metal Blade while it's up if you're holding one in your hand (by throwing the blade at the ground and picking it up). So that + Leaf Shield could make for an approaching option.

It's a demo only thing.

It's just a game so you don't need to think hard about it.

Simply enough Ducks and Dog teamed up to make you miserable but Dog need to make you believe that he's on your side. Really, he's not. Every time ducks got killed, he secretly mourning for their deaths behind the bush. So just faked his smile and acting like he's happy to show you the dead ducks.

Oh, cool. So, there's (at least) 79 trophies still unaccounted for on the list. Even cooler.

Anybody know of any faster methods of unlocking all custom moves? I'm mostly been playing through Trophy Rush + Classic Mode.
 
Yup yup. Don't know what all the options mean, but i can read '1 on 1' :p and you pick a character, and it shows you a random online match featuring that character with the settings you picked.
That's so cool! I always hated the replay time limit in Brawl.

I wouldn't be able to tell you right now. No one I have on my friends list owns smash. Plus I only quickly glanced at it. All I do online is quickly hop on for glory mode lol.

EDIT: and to answer Kinsei, I really like; Ness, Robin, Lucina, DHD, and Captain Falcon.
I've been doing trophy rush with DK and slamming the ground. Getting a bunch of them.

It's just random online 'anyone' matches, so either for fun, for glory, 1 on 1 for glory, etc. Those have a time limit of 5 minutes max.

Also, I was able to SAVE a replay of a stock match I did, but I don't know what the time limit is. It was 2 stock, so it wasn't long. Let me test it see how long it goes?

I've been doing trophy rush with DK and slamming the ground. Getting a bunch of them.

Yeah, DK is best for trophy rush, though falco is pretty good, too. Anyone w/ a strong, wide up tilt can dominate it.


Edit: Also just noticed coin battles are GONE. Only stock and Time.

Thanks for doing this. Barrel Roll sounds legit awesome.

Would you consider checking out Robin or Lucina's customs at some point?
