Ugh, I think I'm starting to lose it, or my circle pad is. I've been noticing that I mess up on attacks more often than I used to (which was just two days ago). I mainly play with Mega Man, and sometimes when I try to turn around, he just doesn't do it. I have to double tap to make him turn and by then, my opponent already attacked me. Sometimes I try and do a smash attack, but it just does a standard A attack. Sometimes I try and do a back air, but instead I do a neutral air. I don't know if it's just a Mega Man thing or maybe my circle pad is starting to mess up the more I play the Smash Bros demo. I really hope not, because I'd hate to have to buy a new 3DS. The circle pad is a pretty big problem. It's something that can't be fixed by just changing the controls in options.

Something I noticed in Training mode
When paused, the models for the characters look great, but in motion they downgrade substantially (look at Mario's hands or Link's boots)

In bad quality pic form

But because the camera is so zoomed out during fights, we can barely notice it. Ignore me if old. I just thought it was an interesting thing Sakurai did. Models still look good either way.

It's really apparent on Link's boots, his calves seem to bulge outward.

I really wish the Smash Run songs would be available for multi-player. Just make them unlockable! It creates an objective increase to the game's overall quality. They could just do this:

Yeah, locking a *lot* of really great tracks to Smash Run when there's stages they're basically *made* for is really baffling.

Because the other areas don't fit MR as well as FD does

Honestly, every song that appears in Smash - and is a full-length song - should be unlockable. Battlefield with the Trophy Display theme? Beautiful

You know it's a Xenoblade song, right? So ideally it'd be play on Gaur Plains. Though I can see what you mean about it fitting better elsewhere.

And I totally agree that all songs should be unlockable. I'd love to mix and match songs all throughout stages and even the CSS. The Find Mii music on FD, the Smash 64 CSS music back where it belongs, changing the Paper Mario medley to play only Rogueport--there's so much potential with this soundtrack.

Hopefully they have expanded music options in the Wii U version.

In game bullshots! That's new.

Smash for Wii U will definitely be the Smash Bros. game at Evo 2015. 2016 will be the big question. If Smash 4 is embraced by the community and stays strong going into 2016, then I'm sure Smash 4 will be there until Smash 5 drops. However, if the hype for the game dies next year... Melee will return, I think.

Stupid question, why would they not be possible on the Wii U? I'm not very familiar with Swiss tournaments, but it just seems like a way of matching up players past the first loss.

3DS version=everyone has their own 3DS, therefore there are enough setups

Wii U version=you'd have to have a ridiculous number of Wii Us (and TVs) to run it

What's he talking about? Just his opinion on Smash 4 thus far?

Yeah his opinion, mentioning that they have been lab testing DHD and they have a lot to talk about during their stream tomorrow. Also telling people to get the 3DS to train for the WiiU or else you are behind.

Styles Mega Man is beast.

Yeah I didnt think anyone could make him work well. He plays him really well. Watching these streams really wants me to get better at the demo to prepare lol. Im having problems quick falling as fast as they are tho.

So I was lucky enough to get my hands on a demo-code fridaynight...

Put like 3 hours of actual gameplay into the demo and dear god it plays really really well. Thats the first time im playing Smash 4, cause I havent been to Gamescom this year and I didnt got any chance to try it out (preordered it beforehand nonetheless).

It took like 3 or 4 matches to get into the controls on a 3DS but I'm still intrigued how good it actually works on a handheld.

I cant remember when I played Brawl the last time so I went in at Level 1 CPU, to start out slow. Its loads of fun. It feels and plays a lot like Melee (as far as I can tell with only 5 characters and one map)

Megamans recovery is really annoying though. Rush is overpowered :D But all in all I'm satsfied with Sakurais work :-D

By the way, do I get to keep my Demo "coins" in the final game? :) Pleeeeease :D

so he's more of a spacer type fighter?

I was a big snake fan and used him primarily as my main in brawl and project m. who might you recommend me to try (based on that) when the game comes out in the US? any character in smash 4 have a similar play style/feel?

When CT Tournament uploads the footage to youtube you should check out the DHD vs ROB match. Insane Zoning on that match.

I think you'll like the Dog. He's not really the same as snake, but he controls the stage as well if not better than snake did.

The can for instance. After you throw it out you can tap the button to make it bounce, over and over. That way you basically have a floating mine on the stage. Your opponents can hit it back too though. The clay pigeon is thrown, then you can press the button again to make it basically explode. Then you have the Gunmen Clive guys as your other special. They pop out and will shoot straight forward after a second or 2. Best thing is you can effectively get all 3 of your projectiles out at the same time.

I definitely recommend you try him out when you get the game. His playstyle looks very fun.

Hi people I was wondering if when you play in "For Glory" mode are they stock matches or timed matches? Also is it possible to play stock matches in "For Fun" mode?

For Glory 1v1 is 2 stock 5 minutes, which is interesting because people are actually considering that for tournaments too.

Was this ever posted? Rather adorable.

This is my headcanon now.

Anyone even bothering getting worked up over the PotD? I'm guessing they're gonna showcase Ness, since he's the first unlock here, and he was the first PotD after Brawl's launch, too. I'm assuming he's still secret in the Wii U game, but we already know he's in, so why bother playing around and pretending he's not?

Edit: Oh cool, I'm no longer a Junior! Now I don't have to fear Pikma slamming me into a locker now!

:lol

btw most of us here are getting the Wii U version right

I've been lurking the Smash threads for a while now, but I've been too busy with school to participate with the hype surrounding the demo and the Japanese launch. I just wanted to express how happy I am at all the positivity surrounding Smash 4. After Brawl, I truly thought we'd never again see another game in the series embraced by both the casual and pro set. It almost feels too good to be true. Smash is truly back, you guys :') I look forward to taking you all on on Wii U come November.

I think it would be pretty cool if the tournament standard was 2 stock 5 minute matches, as it would line up with the for glory ruleset. A lot easier to get people into the competitive scene by telling them "just play for glory!" rather than "well go to smashboards and read the smash 4 back room official tournament ruleset 2.0 thread"
