Looks very good, nice lighting and motion blur and effects and all that shit that makes your heartbeat go faster

Really strange art, it can look incredible one second and in the next look like an early last gen game. Really mixed bag. Looks like it plays a bit like a mix between Kingdom Hearts and Monster Hunter...a bit faster than KH with single commands on each button like Monster hunter

crisis core on steroids.

Gameplay/camera looks really similar to the PSP verison. So does the whole, go from room to room mission structure.

That stuff was never going to change.

But it's prettier than I expected, I think this is a very satisfying "remaster" in the vein of FFX/X-2 HD before it. Funny, remakes seem to be SE's forte these days.

All pieces are coming together now. Fabula Nova Crystallis redeemed after all?

So what were the main issues with the game, I heard people say Type-0 is rather average?

Well based on what I am seeing it's just the PSP version but super pretty. The bland mission structure seems to be exactly the same. Not complaining though.

Visuals are clearly a big improvement, but as expected, those sparse, cramped looking areas betray it's origins big time.

Still not something I'd pay full retail for tbh.

I think the backgrounds add to that, they are the main thing that gives it away especially on the simpler ones when they can't do some of the fancier looking lighting.

I really liked how Crisis Core played even if it was easy as hell. Can't wait for this.

Same. I loved Crisis Core. I imported this when the english translastion patch was released and played about 10 hours. Loved every second, but stopped when this was announced. The way leveling works, I didn't want to go through the game twice.

I loooooooooove it.

This is a pretty good representation of what Im talking about. Animations and models look incredible, but you are battling in a PSP arena with smoothing applied. Some indoor areas had more model complexity though

Keep expectations in check and I think this will be enjoyable. It looks good visually and fluid combat but it still is a game that was designed for the PSP and the mission-based structure will likely highlight that

As nice as this gif looks (it really makes the game look ace), put that on rinse and repeat for some time. That is Type-0. Limited enemies and annoying Kill-Sight (the red circle) reliance. Remove Kill-Sight and fix balancing and it'd make for a much nicer game, personally.

I still think this is more than people expected. I'm quite shocked by SE's effort here; just watched some PSP footage and it clearly is a level above.

Yep but I'd say it's unreasonable to expect the maps/field to be redesigned, they may as well make a sequel if they're going to put that much work into it. I'd say what we're getting is the best we can expect from a HD version.

Yup, with the right expectations this looks quite good.

No, the right thing would have been to release this overseas 2-3 years ago.

Well, that's if we were talking about it 3 years ago. It's past that now and they're doing good things with Type-0 and XV. People are happy for once.

Guess they decided not to or had conflicts and I guess opted to pretty up the graphics and market it as a PS4/X1 title to make more time for development of other projects like XV. And to give Tabata some time to work with the new systems.
