Final Fantasy XV tech demo presentation by Tabata (Demo gameplay details added)

It looks better than TW3's combat.

I don't know what people are talking about.Combat seems remarkable.
I will admit, the combat definitely lacks weight to it. The animations and the fighitng else is gorgeous, but it seems very floaty. Even KH had that sense of weight behind each hit. They still have lots of time to fix that, though.

I also really love how minimalistic the UI looks. Very clean.

Hope they keep it like that for release whenever that might be.

Just finished, looks fantastic.

What happened to lock-on though? I remember seeing it in the E3 gameplay trailer, but maybe I just missed it here. All I saw was teleport lock ons.

Because either Sony or Square Enix ( most likely Sony) wanted to make a big deal out of DRAGON QUEST RETURNS TO PLAYSTATION,

They willfully ignored Square Enix games for the entire conference to throw down the gauntlet of that DQ reveal. It was clearly set up that way.

May seem strange, but DQ is still the more relevant JRPG brand in Japan and DQ has been away from Playstation for a decade.

No, this cannot be true.

It's not a mutually exclusive choice but a synergistic one -- a perfect chance to set up a DQ + FFXV announcement combo, which would have shook the scene a lot more. I'm thinking they're still a little pensive about FFXV because of the previous problems around it (e.g. Nomura leaving).

That's some of the best ARPG combat I've seen in a long time.

I think the only thing which looked bad was the rain itself. Reminds me of KZ:SF.

Okay, what???
It very well may have the best combat of all time but that's impossible to tell.

Combat in the beginning stages of ARPGs always pale in comparison the eventual craziness. So right now, it looks a bit pedestrian to me...as it should. Remember how KH started on destiny island?

I can't right now, a trailer and now a live demo video? Is the world ending soon?! I was not expecting any of this!

I can't really see Sony saying no to debuting FFXV gameplay. It seems more likely that Square wanted to make these announcements on their own. Which is why they were upset when the Type-0 HD date and demo announcement were leaked.

Is that Hajime Tabata on the mic at the end of the video?

Poor Nomura. :( He should be showing it off in person. Not to take away anything Tabata has brought the past year.

They apologised on the stream about the lack of info since E3 last year, and said we will be getting info continuously now and will see more in December at Jump Festa

Why on earth would square put Dargon Quest on anything but mobile?

The team-ups look so good. They flow in and out really well.

Also that teleport looks like a lot of fun as a 'rush' technique. Hopefully at the higher levels you can air launch someone and then teleport to them in midair to juggle them.

I love the sense of scale that city has. The skyscrapers seem appropriately huge compared to a human character. It's rare to really get that size comparison down.

Haha some people drawing conclusions about the combat based off tiny snippets. It looks like a step im the right direction though, FF has wanted to have this type of combat for a while I feel

hmmm, i would not take it that far. Witcher 3, for the realism it tries to achieve, is remarkable.

this just looks like a more mature kingdom hearts...which is the best complement i can give to an action RPG since subjectively KH is still the best fantastical action RPG i've ever played. witcher 3 is just different... i'd prefer to compare it to souls series.

They have the ability to transfer their visual works CG models to real time environments in the game and display them in real time during cut scenes. I think that because of this, the number of pre-rendered cinematics in the game will be low.
That's good to hear, because it would be kind of crazy if the digital version weighed in at over 50GB.

... Yeah, I think the scenario above is probably better, scratch mine.

Square probably felt spacing them out made sense. DQH is made to be a bigger reveal than it would have on a normal stage due to Sony giving it the 'one last thing' treatment, with silver console and a grand stage moment...

For a MUSOU game.

And then they could take over the rest of the main show with FFXV's separate announcement, which is significant enough to basically overwhelm the entire TGS.

He's actually probably really happy. KH is his baby and he always wanted to be focused on it.
I was just joking since the picture gives off a little bit of a sad feeling with the lone one man in a big white room with nothing it in and no one around. He probably isn't super happy about not getting to finish his project, though.

FFV13/15 was his to be his magnum opus game though. It was what he wanted to make from the start if he could have done KH without the disney stuff, and it (possibly) could have been taken from him without a say.

True, it was a Japan conference for a Japanese audience. Well, with consumers getting hands on around March I hope that next E3 is a big blow out with maybe even a release window. Here's to hoping!^^

Fuck this is surreal.

This is very surreal especially for those of us who have been waiting since 06 and have kept the hyped alive.

We can now rejoice!
